Trip To St. Micheal's Cathedral & Lakefront In Toronto

I went to St. Micheal's Cathedral for Mass, hence I was on and off social which today I am once again back in Toronto for a complete different thing and it will be with my friend Eric this time around. Anyways getting into Toronto, we had to re-route ourselves due to the Don Valley Parkway was closed which was just our luck that the Parkway aka the Parking Lot as it is always called technically. We had to go along Kingston Road to get into that which was the worst idea ever. Why you ask? Well we were stuck in traffic for quite some time and by the time we got to the church/cathedral it was almost half way through the Mass but better late then never. It was beyond our control really, everyone I think was taking the side roads due to the Don Valley was shutdown. Either way we made it in time for the Sermon. Anyways after I thought we were going to straight home which I had plans to actually work yesterday afternoon on the Power Rangers Podcast as I am a now less then a week from recording and really need to get the job done so I am waiting till tomorrow and I know it is last minute procrastination but I will get it down as the amount of pages is dwindling and I was up most of the night last night as I went to bed early and had the extra time to get things done as by the time you are reading this, I am back into Toronto. I did work on it a tad bit on the Power Rangers Podcast a bit this morning but that's besides the point of today's post.

Anyways, back to the trip not rambling about my workload we decided from there to take the subway where we were down to the lake and we originally were planning on going for a ferry ride there and back but due to the lineup being so long we decided to walk along the waterfront, get a drink and enjoy looking at the Ferry boats which all of em were running yesterday. Also a lot of the cruise boats were out and about. Also we noticed with all the rain that the water levels were up and the wooden walk way was pretty much under water and stairs to a small look out was underwater so there was a lot of areas flooded and made me wonder how the Toronto Islands were this year as the island was pretty much shutdown as there was residents that live on Ward's had to deal with the flood last year and wonder if they were affected this year at all. I don't think that all the ferry's would be running just the one, Ongaria would be the only one running so I am guessing everything was fine on the island and it was a busy one.  Also I almost forgot the Jays were playing and winning and the dome still closed as they have been doing work to the dome so they haven't had it open yet but I think they said sometime in early June.  It was a fun day and looked forward to Toronto with Eric, so day 2 of being in Toronto is today and will have a blog about it tomorrow. Also Tuesday, I want to talk about the Raptors winning the Eastern Conference Finals and now moving on to the NBA Finals for the first time in the history of the Franchise on Tuesday.

Happy Easter!

First thing I would like to say on this blog post for today is Happy Easter! Hope you all have a wonderful Easter with your family. I love this holiday just like Thanksgiving & Christmas because I love being with my family and spending time with them during the holiday season and being around with the people I love. I admit I am excited to be taking a break from this chaos and like I said this morning at 215 am EST, I have been busy leading up to Easter Sunday which is today. I want to talk about it today briefly.

Tuesday I went to the Chrism Mass with my dad as that is our tradition each and every year and we consider it father/son time with each other. On our walk from Union we stopped at the St. Stephan's Chapel where our former Pastor Fr. Guenter is in charge of running the chapel during the weekdays and we got to see him and chat with him for a little bit before we continued on our way. We stopped at the Eaton Center for a quick drink then we went on to St. Micheal's Cathedral Basilica for the Chrism Mass which our Cardinal, Cardinal Collins presided at the mass. We saw a few of our former seminarians and pastors of parishes we visit here and there as well. We then went to St. Lawrence Market for Fish and chips for me Clam Chowder & Chips.

Now Thursday, had the Holy Thursday Mass locally with our Auxiliary Bishop for our area so we remained in Oshawa for Holy Thursday Mass and Adoration that night. Good Friday, we once again traveled back into Toronto for the Good Friday Service for 3 pm EST which this is one of the traditions my dad and I do every year. Usually Good Friday's we at at St Paul's Basilica and Easter Vigil we are back at St. Micheal's Cathedral.

So The Easter Vigil I dressed up nice, shirt, tie and sweater and we headed to St. Micheal's Cathedral. Now you probably wonder with my back is so so right now, how I managed with the sore back but I managed, don't worry I managed. The mass was beautiful, the music was beautiful they really decorated the parish really nice for the Easter celebration. He is truly risen! Hallelujah!

Lastly once again, I really hope you all have a very happy and safe Easter and enjoy your Easter with your family. I sure will! I will do a blog post about it tomorrow about my time with my family.

Favorite Things I Like To DO In Toronto

There are several things I like to do in Toronto and in today's blog post this is what I like to do in Toronto:

1) Go to the Toronto Islands, as a kid, I was always and constantly on the Island or even riding the ferry there and back but I am always at the island and why it has made the list on today's blog post.

2) Chrism Mass/Christmas Mass/Easter Vigil at St. Micheal's Cathedral: For many years, been going to the Chrism Mass, Easter Vigil Mass, also the Midnight Mass at St. Micheal's Cathedral which now has become a tradition with my dad and I and we do not miss it year after year.

3) The Royal Winter Agricultural Winter Fair: Since probably since I was a kid or close to my teens, I have been to The Royal Agricultural Winter Fair every year from when my dad and I started going to the Royal minus the one year we went and I was sick as a dog with a flu bug.

4) Polish/Ukrainian Festival: Every year for at least the past 5 years now, my dad and I go to the Ukrainian Festival, followed by the Polish Festival which is a back to back festival, so you can say I come home on a full stomach, because I did have a full tummy by the end of it. We have gone for the last 5 or 6 years minus the last 2 years due to the fact it rained 2 years in a row but usually the festival is on the schedule for ChrisBOnTheWeb.

5) Greek Festival: Up to last year, I have attended to the Greek Festival for many, may years since the later 1990's with my dad and had tons of fun but after last year with it being busy and people shoved me around and telling me off, I didn't plan on going this year because of what happened. I would like to try it again next year but it made the list.

6) Toronto Blue Jays Games: Love the Jays, I am a Jays super fan since I was little and yes I was around when they won both World Series in 92 and 93. Haven't gone to a game in a few years.

7) Toronto Argonauts:  It has been many years since the last Argo's football game and I had so much fun and since they have moved to BMO Field on the old grounds of the former Exhibition Stadium and it is time for me to return to a game or 2 each season and yes the Argos are in the Playoffs this year as the East is weak but that's for another blog later.

8) The Canadian National Exhibition (The CNE): I love the CNE, the rides, entertainment, food, the buildings, the food building and it goes on and I haven't been there in many years and would like to go back but then again I have to save up the money to go, but think next year I am going to be planning to attend The CNE.

That is about it for my list, I have more but it is an endless list and probably missed a bunch of favorite places in Toronto that I never mentioned but if I remember I could continue the list on another blog post. Until the next post have a great night!
