1 Year Ago I Was On A Spring Cruise On The Chi-Cheemaun!

So 1 year ago well about days later from the actual 1 year anniversary, to be politically correct 5 days. I went on a Spring Cruise on the Chi-Cheemaun Ferry! Boy what a long but fun trip and it was weird to see snow there. Also the fact Flower Pot was really quiet and just odd to see anyone and plus the town of Tobermory was quiet and never seen a town so silent and quiet. I still remember exactly what we had, potatoes, Roast Beef and some kind of square which I believe was lemon actually.  I know there was a ton of down time between the departure and arrival but I was always looking around especially when I got around the Grotto. One thing I loved was the Captain blasted the Chi Cheemaun again on the way out at the entrance/exit to Owen Sound Harbor. Also those hanging out at the Grotto as there was 1 or 2 people there if I remember correctly.  I believe there was a few people even in Tobermory when we arrived to greet the boats arrival for the brand new Ferry Sailing Season. Feels like it has been longer then 1 year and definitely a memorable moment. It was neat we got to enter through a side hatch on the side of the ferry which is a very rare occurrence as you normal enter from the "bow" or "stern" as that is the proper terms or the side ramp either side Tobermory or South Baymouth (Manitoulin Island). It was amazing to see what a great turn out it had and unfortunately the ferry service is on hold due to our situation with the virus but glad I got go last year with my dad and my dad traveled from pretty far from the South East end of Ontario like 3 hours away from here.

I would love to complete it all and do the Fall Cruise with my dad next year which would be pretty beautiful up there but we would have to book a hotel and get a school bus from Owen Sound and up to Tobermory. I am on their social media pages liked and following them on a regular updates and asked them questions if I had some. Either way there is 2 more things on my bucket list with Tobermory and that is for another post for another day. It is a fun trip and if you live in Ontario and when this is all done and hopefully things go back to normal, I highly recommend this trip even if it isn't a Spring or Fall Cruise it can be a normal trip from Tobermory to South Baymouth or the southbound trip but it don't matter really what direction but it is worth the time to go up there. Finally I have been doing this trip for ages and like I said there are 3 things still on my bucket list. What the heck really, they are the 2 hour cruise around the islands during the day, exploring Manitoulin more and finally the Fall Cruise. I know the fall cruise will be similar but it will be in the opposite direction which is south down the peninsula.  Either way it was a fun time and I enjoyed it and cannot wait to do the fall one.

My Ferry Ride To Pelee Island... (Throwback Thursday Story)

This was years and years ago since I went on the ferry to Pelee Island, I am talking about when I was still a kid at the time in the late 90's at the most. But my dad and I took a trip down to Leamington, Ontario for a vacation even though it was only a couple of days but that was OK with me and it's sort of hard to remember that far back as I was younger then and it was a long time ago, we're talking like 20 odd years ago when this all happened. Anyways we got down there and got a campsite and got setup. I remember there was a Detroit Red Wings player that is from that town actually, Darren McCarty whom grew up in Leamington. So yes I know a bit of history of Detroit even though I'm technically more of a Leaf fan then anything else during the Hockey Season.

Anyways, we got our ferry tickets and we were actually on 2 different ferries going there and the first ferry we got was the Pelee Islander and it was an interesting trip say to the least as my dad has his coffee on the boat on the floor and a we hit a wave to a point his coffee spilled all over the floor. So the rest of the boat ride, all you can see is coffee going from one side to another which was sort of funny in a way. However coming home we were on the bigger ferry the Jiimaan Ferry on our way back to the main land. I was fairly young and unable to do any of the wine taste testing but would now as I am now older and able to drink, I would definitely indulge in testing out different wines. We walked around the island a bit too and I know there are snakes on the island, nothing poisonous but I believe  it is the Blue Racer Snake which has been known to be a bit of a nuscience on the island.

However it was a fun trip, my dad almost got pulled over for speeding but the police warned us with his lights so we got away with it that time. I would definitely go back and we are planning to go back next year in the summer for a visit and maybe bring home some wine from Pelee Island in the process. Also forgot to say We even saw and Eastern Fox Snake while staying at the Wheatley Provincial Park and I got the picture off Google.com.  Mind you the snake was massive and slow as a tortoise but really neat to see what it looks like in person. We all watched the snake slowly make it;s way across the road and back into the woods where it belongs. Overall it was a fun trip all together.

Toronto Trip (June 30th, 2018)

This was only planned a few days in advance and I was actually expecting to be in my studio working on Chris B On The Web and I knew with this being the long weekend, I made the executive decision to take the long weekend off from Saturday (yesterday) till tomorrow (Monday) so I will be only active on this blog ONLY for the next 24 hours or so while things here at the studio are very quiet and not much going on here till first thing on Tuesday morning. So I got to go into Toronto yesterday for the later half of the day into the evening in Toronto, with my dad obviously and I wasn't sure what we were going to do.

So we left around 2 pm EDT, we first stopped at the Catholic Book Store so I could actually get a new book cover for my church book as I lost which probably can be a throwback Thursday story for another day to tell you guys as it was an ridiculous story and totally my fault for not realizing to pick it up but I will tell you guys this on another day, another time. After that we went to Yorkdale mall to park and they told us no TTC parking like WTF... Where in the heck do we park? Like seriously! So we ended up driving up Allen Road North all the way to Finch Station and down. We got there, got on the subway and went down to North York Station and got off and visited Mel Lastman Square for a bit. Saw the fountain there and also they were also setting up for Canada Day Celebrations today as well.

Then we went to church via the 97 Young Street Bus down to Lawrence Avenue area. After mass we went down to the lake, had dinner, I had a polish sausage and a Gatorade  as well. While eating dinner, we actually heard a whistle, well I did and I knew it was the Trillium Ferry and it happened to run to the Islands and back but my dad thought it was only on a cruise but we decided to do the Ongaria ferry to Hanlans Point and back and they had 5 ferries, 1 on Wards, 2 on Center Island and 2 on Hanlan's Point as it was very busy at the island. We know next time to try and get the Trillium Ferry if we happen to hear it's 108 whistle go off again in the nearby future. Finally to end the day we had Gelato which is a less fattening version of ice cream but hey it was very tasty to have and I enjoy it.

Happy Canada Day To All The Canadian's out there!
