Events The Next Few Weekends... (Changes)

This weekend's schedule may change for Halton County Radial Museum. Reason why is threats of rain Saturday so this means Halton is on Sunday, no rain whatsoever this Sunday so I will be travelling with my dad to Halton this weekend to the Streetcar Museum and spending time with him. Will have my camera with me as always to capture pictures and what not at the museum, especially the special with the fantastic fall colors.

Next week is going to be ridiculous and really over these events as I wanna spend time with you guys on the premieres but I can't cause I am on the road most of the time. However the following weekend after this one there are two events, Saturday, October 14th, 2023, Apple Festival in Bowmanville and Sunday, October 15th, 2023 for South Simcoe Railway but this all depends on the weather as it has been a very unpredictable here it's either hot, cool or rainy. Anyways that is today's post, have a great weekend, Kelsie will be blogging and I will speak to you all Monday!

Thoughts On Ontario's Recent Snowstorm?

Last week, we had a massive snowstorm here in Ontario which was 55 centimeters of snow! Yes the most we have had since 1972 so that was a long time ago. However we survived, I for the most part along with my parents and I stayed home as we live on a hill and were pretty much stuck at home at the time. I helped my dad with the snow blowing on our driveway which even now I am still feeling the after affect of it with my back but that's ok really. It was great exercise and probably the reason I lost a ton of weight since then on Monday. Last major snowstorm where I was stuck at home, I believe was was when I was in college but still managed to go to school regardless with less students there. I never in the 36 years, my entire life and yes I gave my age which I'm not afraid of-- but I have never seen such a crazy amount of snow in my life. My dad even took a video of me snow blowing which I have yet seen which I have to ask him about it.

Was quite a crazy snowstorm but by the next day we were plowed out and able to go out and about so our city did a fantastic job digging us out of this mess, compare to past storms we ended up it was 2 or 3 days we had to wait to get unburied from the snow. However I ensure you we are perfectly fine and you probably did notice that I was onlin a ton more then usual that day.  I think it was just time where it was going to happen and only snow we have has been the light snow but either way that is today's post. Oh I have added a picture above  to show you how much we had! I will talk to you all tomorrow.

What Did I Think About The Rotating School Strike?

What did I think of the rotating 1 day strike? Well for one it was ridiculous and there was weeks where my niece and nephew were out twice in a week which I feel like that the kids out of school they lose valuable time learning. Now it seems to be not happening as much as maybe a deal has been made or even the teachers forced back to work? Honestly, there hasn't been much but I say good, the kids get the education they need. Definitely they need the education. Honestly when I was in school a long time ago, like 14 years ago was the last time I was, I do not even remember having a strike. However keeping them out of school too long isn't good and plus the school year can be extended if this kept on going. However I shouldn't be complaining, they could of been out of school completely and losing even more valuable time learning in the classroom. This is why when my parents and I had the kids on a rotating strike day, I always do some math or spelling with them to keep their minds fresh, especially for when they return to school.

Honestly, I think things died down with the rotating strikes but I just found out that there will  be more rotating strikes next week. Honestly can't they wait till the summer to deal with the contract disputes. Yes I realize they want more money which is normally the case with the teachers. However this is the high schools not the elementary as my niece and nephew are in elementary. Either way doesn't matter if it is elementary or high school level, the kids need their education and that is the most important thing. This also goes for college and I was one that had to the deal with a strike on my last year of college which stunk and actually if I remember correctly being almost 8 years ago, I went to class without support as you guys know I have autism and I had the extra help but the support staff were on strike but I still attended and managed on my own terms. But the strike I had to deal with was everyday of the week which meant I had to fend for myself.  The point is it stinks and I know how the kids feel and just hope this can be resolved very soon so things can get back to normal.

Tyrone Farmers 20th Anniversary Parade 2019!

So yesterday, I got to go to the Tyrone Farmers Parade for the first time in 2 years as last year the weather was bad and 2 it happened to be on my birthday which is today and on a Thursday. Anyways, we were not going to go originally however we decided to go anyways despite we were tired as we worked on the walls in the studio which an update is coming Sunday afternoon's blog post. So we went and on our way we ended getting snow falling which honestly made the experience nice. We went down to the actual mill and wanted to get cider and donuts but the line-up was absolutely insane. However the way I think of it that is definitely good for the business. Anyways we walked back up the damn hill which mind you I was exhausted by the time I got back up the hill I was exhausted and panting hard but hey I survived. We went all the way up to where the church was and stayed put for the remainder of the time we were there. Ran into another fellow bowler that bowled in the same league for at least 10 plus years that I was in that league and it was great to catch up with em as the last time I saw them was at the Orono Fair.

We waited quite some time for the parade to start and I was getting pretty stiff honestly with the waiting game but when it started there was over 10 different floats that I saw as it is actually their 20th anniversary so it was a bonus and if I remember correctly I have been going since I was still in high school at the time so that spans over 10 years for him and I doing this event. One bonus thing about this parade too is the fact they actually had the vintage tractors too and also people riding horses so it was pretty special 20th anniversary. So we are guessing this parade was done in 1999 just before my final year in elementary school before the start of high school. Either way we had a good time despite the wait but in the end it was truly worth going and looking forward to the parade in 2020. One final thing to say is next week I am off to the last event for 2019 which is the Christmas Market in Toronto to wrap things up for events in 2019 so I am definitely looking forward to that and stay tuned to social media when I am heading there.

York Durham Railway 2019!

I know the posts are out of sync in the last couple of days with my very busy schedule recently but here is the post for today. I went to York Durham Railway and this is the first time I have been there in 3 years as 3 years ago I filmed with Larry up there for the what was the series finale and also I took a trip on it with my dad that summer as well so it was definitely time to hop back on the train, even if it is partially down the line to Goodwood and back which is what we did. I am not going to talk about the difficult time we had getting tickets as things all worked out in the end but I am so happy they are getting more and more popular to this day and I'm sure when I filmed up there it helped them as well. Anyways we went to Goodwood and back and we were on Car # 101 which is a Budd car from Boise Idaho which yes is the potato state in the U.S. Anyways we were pushed and pulled by diesel 22 which ran in the province of Quebec. So we went on our way and now we were like in the dining car where it had a table and chairs so it was comfortable for me at least but it was nice but I perfect the other type of car but those were the only seats really available at the time of our purchase of tickets.

This is not much of a post of the day as I did take several pics which you can definitely find on my Instagram account @ChrisBOnTheWeb. Anyways we had a good time yesterday and we know in the very nearby future we need to book ahead of time to do the entire trip to Stouville and back as we very much do enjoy that trip in the past and we will be back next year for sure! We will be making sure of that! Also we got a look at the Diesel up close and I wish I said I'd like to go into all 3 of the diesels when we filmed which I can say I have been in all 3 but least I got to be in 3612 at least. So may as well mention this to you guys as well this weekend my dad and I are off to Halton County Radial Museum and the following weekend we are heading to South Simcoe Railway so we will be indeed busy for the next few weekends with new posts. Again thank you so much for reading this short post and I hope you guys enjoyed this little post about my trip and I know it wasn't much but least I got a post out for you guys tonight due to me being extremely busy all day with Larry.

Coming Home Tomorrow!

As you all know I pre-written posts for over my holiday so I am not leaving you guys hanging for nearly a week but tomorrow things we will be coming to a full swing as we are going to be back home from holidays and which means I will have a bunch of content to write as I will be blogging my ears off for you guys to what I have been up to for the last 6 days while on vaca from being in this studio for such a long time now.  I am however excited to be back home and getting back into the swing of things again and continue to podcast for you guys. I know I probably worrying about losing subscribers but I put a notice on the last episode that I am away but if I lose a couple of subs then it is what it is. But I know you guys are very understanding if something goes all to heck especially technically but again I cannot make a damn excuse as I got the other microphone I can use by switching seats temporarily while I try and fix it. However the tech issues now are very mimimal at this point. I am looking forward to getting back behind the microphone and recording again but it was a nice break for me but always nice to get back to normal.

Anyways I will make sure to have a safe journey home as we drove out instead of flying and looking forward to catching up with you guys and the way the blog posts to catch up on what I was up to at the East Coast is Days 1 & 2 will be in one post, then Days 3 & 4 on another and finally Days 5 & 6, so 3 posts it will take to get covered then we will be back into normal everyday topics on the blog so it will be span 3 days that is it. It has been a fun filled trip and I have so much to talk about and excited to write the posts once I start writing again after catching up on things being back in the studio over the next couple of days. Speaking of which the next couple of days will consist of me recording podcasts and getting back on track. As for Twitch as you know I streamed on the weekend before I left and I am not sure when I will be back to it as I made the switch to do the podcast which will be explained eventually as it is only in the testing phases right now. Either way I feel energized to continue on with the podcast for the rest of the summer and excited to what is coming next for the podcast, blog and the website!

My Ferry Ride To Pelee Island... (Throwback Thursday Story)

This was years and years ago since I went on the ferry to Pelee Island, I am talking about when I was still a kid at the time in the late 90's at the most. But my dad and I took a trip down to Leamington, Ontario for a vacation even though it was only a couple of days but that was OK with me and it's sort of hard to remember that far back as I was younger then and it was a long time ago, we're talking like 20 odd years ago when this all happened. Anyways we got down there and got a campsite and got setup. I remember there was a Detroit Red Wings player that is from that town actually, Darren McCarty whom grew up in Leamington. So yes I know a bit of history of Detroit even though I'm technically more of a Leaf fan then anything else during the Hockey Season.

Anyways, we got our ferry tickets and we were actually on 2 different ferries going there and the first ferry we got was the Pelee Islander and it was an interesting trip say to the least as my dad has his coffee on the boat on the floor and a we hit a wave to a point his coffee spilled all over the floor. So the rest of the boat ride, all you can see is coffee going from one side to another which was sort of funny in a way. However coming home we were on the bigger ferry the Jiimaan Ferry on our way back to the main land. I was fairly young and unable to do any of the wine taste testing but would now as I am now older and able to drink, I would definitely indulge in testing out different wines. We walked around the island a bit too and I know there are snakes on the island, nothing poisonous but I believe  it is the Blue Racer Snake which has been known to be a bit of a nuscience on the island.

However it was a fun trip, my dad almost got pulled over for speeding but the police warned us with his lights so we got away with it that time. I would definitely go back and we are planning to go back next year in the summer for a visit and maybe bring home some wine from Pelee Island in the process. Also forgot to say We even saw and Eastern Fox Snake while staying at the Wheatley Provincial Park and I got the picture off Google.com.  Mind you the snake was massive and slow as a tortoise but really neat to see what it looks like in person. We all watched the snake slowly make it;s way across the road and back into the woods where it belongs. Overall it was a fun trip all together.

I'm Back! | Driving Range | Food Truck Friday Event

Today's blog will be a three part post, the top part just an idea where I've been.  I know it has been 3 days without me present here on the blog but I haven't gone far, just been busy knocking out watching Power Rangers for the past 3 days and trust me, I want to be ready a week Sunday as I am recording my first of 3 podcasts with Larry and hopefully a special guest in the studio as well to join us. On top of all that, been finishing up some off season podcast things for Everything About Reality TV. As you all know by my social media, I went on a cruise this week up the river up on the lift locks which I will be doing a post about on tomorrow's blog post since I will be not available later on during the day as I am doing a father and sons thing for Father's Day a day early but I will be nearby the studio and will have a Fathers Day blog post in the morning posted up to talk about what I have done for Father's Day. It will actually be a two part post, one Sunday, One Monday.  Other then that, just been busy around the studio and hardly went out this week, stayed in between Tuesday and Today and was at the Food Truck Friday event in Bowmanville.

Which brings me to the second part of today's blog which is I went to the Bowmanville Food Truck Friday event which happens each and every year the Friday, 2 days before Father's Day and my dad and I go each and every year to it and try something new and trust me this year it was different for me. This year I tried dumplings for the very first time ever in my life and it was actually sweet and sour chicken dumplings smothered in Scallions. I didn't know that they are like an onion but not as strong as an onion is.  I enjoyed it and it hit the spot.

The reason I say it hit the spot, I just got off the driving Range for the first time and I know what you all are going to say, what about my poor back? Well it did at the start but I actually am feeling great at this time as it didn't really affect my back whatsoever, just at the very start of it but hitting some golf balls actually help stretch out those muscles that are giving me a problem right now.  I will be going back on the range and hopefully also the actual course as well, so there is a lot of plans to continue to golf.

My Thoughts On The Minimum Wage Going Up Here In Canada

To start today's blog post out by saying, I do not usually talk politics on this blog but today is an exception as this has been on my mind for the last month or so since they announced this was going to happen here in Ontario and Canada. I will try to keep it PG but not guaranteeing anything. Trust me there is a lot on my mind with this and I will definitely be making my points.

First point I would like is they have now raised it to $14 minimum wage and will be raising it to $15 as of early 2019. Now my question is, how in the world are the businesses going to be able to pay their employees 15 dollars per hour? What I think will happen is they keep this up they will have to lay off some of their employees which means the number of unemployed people will be up. Now I am hoping that it would of gone up not gone down, no damn clue what the hell this government is doing and why they wanna up it. Yes it is good for us the people who are working minimum wage, but it hurts the businesses in the long run too. Makes no sense raising it if it will hurt the businesses, especially the smaller businesses as well. I wondered if I was still with the bookstore, if I would still have my job still but probably I wouldn't have a job if I was still in the working world.

One thing is if the Progressive Conservative Party wins this years election as we are heading to the polls, they want to slowly increase the minimum wage here compare to the nut case who is the Premiere of Ontario, so it would be more then likely better, however you never know with who is in power, but change is always good. I hope the government doesn't rush minimum wage as I said above, it can hurt businesses, especially the smaller businesses, we do not want to see companies go under due to going bankrupt or not able to pay their employees which it ends up in unemployment for some.

Have a great day!

Favorite Events, I Have Been To!

There has been many events, I have enjoyed going to, even with events that I do not even go to anymore that made this list of events, I really enjoyed going to but didn't go back due to circumstances.

The very first event, would be the event, I have been going for many years minus 2015 & 2017 due to certain circumstances those two years but 2018 is to be promising, especially this year which has been already very productive with 2 collaboration requests, 1 collab with a friend of mine, an interview with a friend as well. Lots to promote at Autism Celebration this year, so I will be back at the event this year!

Second event, I have been going to for many years, even before this online media journey even started, I am talking about The Royal Winter Fair. I only missed one out of all the years as I got to the fair and I got really ill to a point I had to go home early, which I was disappointed by but I've gone to the Royal every year since that one bad year with having the flu.

My 3rd event I love going to is the old 50s festival which is now named something else apparently but we don't go to it, due to the fact it is on the weekend of fathers day and my dad is normally busy with going to golfing on the Saturday and watches the PGA (U.S. Open Golf Tournament) we are unable to go but some years, they place it earlier, so we get the chance to actually go to it.

Very next event, I have to put on this list is the Polish/Ukrainian Festival, we've gone every year minus those 2 years of constant rain each and every year, ending up doing our own Polish/Ukrainian festival with the food. Love going to this event each and every year and wouldn't miss it for the world!

Finally on my list is the Tyrone Parade of lights, gone every year, minus 1 - 2 years due to either forgetting the parade of lights with the tractors were on or it was based on the bad weather once again. in the recent years I've gone to it minus this year's as it runs on my birthday, so I will not be going but will go again next year for sure.

Well there you have it, my list of events I really enjoyed or do enjoy going to each and every year, I'm sure there are some I would like to add but it would make this post way to long for you guys to read but these are the basic ones I've gone to and enjoy going to and will be back to it this year,

Have a great afternoon!

Port Perry Santa Claus Parade 2017

This is a different blog from any of the previous blog posts, I have done in the last couple of days and change is good. So last night I got to go to the Port Perry Santa Claus Parade, the first time since November/December 2009 which is almost 10 years ago since I have went to the parade last. So it was quite sometime ago since I was there and would like to try and go every year since we missed the parade in my city where I'm from.

So we left a bit late so we ended up parking further away then usual and of course we ended up walking where we were going to stand but hey it was good, because it was close to a spot where we can see the parade and also we got a treat, my dad got a coffee and a tart, I just had a raisin scone as I wasn't thirsty at all but the scone was delicious.

As for the parade it was good, but there were somethings that I wasn't happy with, one being the parade was spaced out way to much and I felt like it was slow in sections. I know I am whining and complaining but it was the truth. I didn't really care it was a smaller parade because I understood it was a small town which I thought it made it more quaint for a parade. Would I go back? Probably as long as they don't space it out a lot, I will be more then happy to go back next year for the 2018 Port Perry Santa Claus Parade!

South Simcoe Railway & Happy Canadian Thanksgiving

Today I got to go to the South Simcoe Railway on this really odd day with the weather we have been having lately. Anyways we left around 945 am this morning as we had to be there for 1120 - 1130 EST so we can get tickets and get onto the train for the noon train. I pretty well slept the majority of the way and I am completely bushed now after a long day and a rough night as my sleep was completely messed up after 2 or 3 days of straight sleep, the streak went to nothing. I want to have a solid sleep for a very long time, each and everyday but nope, didn't have it that way apparently. We arrived around 20 after 11 am which is good timing and we got our tickets and we were on Car 74, the one car I don't like as the seats are hard but you gotta remember back in the 1920's they aren't going to be comfy and that's OK if it isn't. We got a drink and a chocolate bar as a snack for the time being then headed back took some pictures and got on the train and rode the South Simcoe Railway with Steam Engine 136 doing the pushing and pulling of the passenger train. Engine # 136 built in 1883. We went several miles down the track to the town of Beeton, of course passed the sign, Nowhere which technically we are in the middle of nowhere, just trees around and fields.

So we got off and looked around the yard at what was there, the mural and timeline of what the railway was from the current time to the beginning on this railway. We also checked out the 1057 steamer that is currently under a bit of restoration and so far looks really good and looks like it's gotten new paint added which makes her look amazing.  Hopefully very soon she will be up and running once again and maybe they will be swamping back and forth between the steamers. I want to do another blog about the difference between the two and how I know for both these two steamers and the ones on York Durham Railway.

We started to head back home with going through the Holland Marsh which is our tradition each and every year that we do this, we stopped at a local farmers market and got some gourds for the front of the house for Halloween and also we got some Marmalade that I can put onto toast for breakfast. To the most important part of this blog is I'm sorry if I am late but Happy Belated Thanksgiving to my other fellow Canadians out there, I hope you had a great Canadian Thanksgiving and a well rested holiday from your normal daily lives. I sure had a great holiday even though it was partially busy but also quiet with the dinner. I wish I had this blog up sooner but least it is up and I know 2 days later but better late then never right? So hope all had a good holiday and a safe one if you were traveling to see family. I will be back later on with another blog around 12 Noon EST and it actually was pre-written a few days ago so it put me at ease, I did that in case I fell behind like I have just tonight. Have a great rest of your night and I be back later for another blog post.

My Opinion on The Job Market In Ontario...

First of all I gotta say this, I do not normally usually get political in my posts but this has been bugging me for the last while and I wants to address it this morning. As you all know I live in Ontario and I am starting to not like living in Ontario anymore and want to move out of this province because since 2015 and quitting my only job I had in my lifetime, to find work is not easy whatsoever and I am kind of to blame for quitting but I did what I felt right. I admit the government said they were going to create more jobs and I believe they were going to create jobs for people with a disability and yet were still waiting... I am one, not happy with the Ontario Government and change needs to happen and I couldn't be any happy for the election, hopefully for people to see the change in this province in many many years. Hopefully we can make change and hopefully things do change around and things get better for this province but you never know what will happen. Hopefully Ontario is tired of our premiere they want to vote for another party in but I do not want to get too political which isn't my forte in this blog whatsoever.

Now in the way of the job search, I am clearly not sure where my future lies with my employment support as I have thought about leaving numerous times as my frustration to find work is getting worse and worse each and every 2nd week I am there so I've considered leaving but decided to stay on longer to see if I get a job but the second I start school I will have to take a leave of absence from it to attend school but school is my alternative move from searching for work and I am currently been looking at bursaries, OSAP anything that can help me through college and there are options for people with disabilities like myself so there are options. In conclusion as I am keeping this blog post a bit shorter as I am posting another blog post later on, but anyways I do got future and backup plans in case this job search does not pan out but I am grateful for having as many job interviews as I have had this year and anything still can happen.

Durham Transit Bus Throwback Story From Many Years Ago

First of All I had to share this throwback story, just had to share it as it is quite a funny story and its been years since the event happened but I had to tell it and I sort of talked about it on social media, but not at length and as I was talking about it on Twitter a bit when I had that same bus in particular.

So many years ago, maybe back in 2008 or 2009 or something like that, hard to remember when it happened actually, but I was on my way to see to see my grandma, but on the way the bell randomly went off without anyone touching the bell line or pressing the button on the pole, the darn thing still goes off. We arrived at the Oshawa Centre and the bus driver went on a break as he was 5 minutes early, he came back and the bus would not start so the bus decided to break down so I ended up waiting for another bus since they had to try and fix the bus on the spot or get it towed back to the barn to get fixed. So I ended up waiting until the next bus which would be the 11 am bus which was 30 minutes later from the time the other bus was suppose to leave. So I had to let my grandma know what was going on and that I would be late coming to see her.

I always will refer 8403 on Durham Transit, the bus from hell as it has been nothing but a problem over time. Recently I had that bus and it made a rattling sound on the front of the bus so something was rattling in the bus. This is why I call it the bus from hell as it is always a constant problem or something goes wonky on the bus. I tell ya that bus is cursed and maybe I am the one that put the curse on the bus or the bus was built with a malfunction never know! Haha. This is my throwback story for today and I will do more of them if you guys really loved my throwback stories, because I got lots of em to tell.

Have a great night!

Justice System & Goverment In Canada

I have been a Canadian all my life and I have noticed that our justice system in Canada isn't overly the greatest.... Someone gets murdered they are out in 10 - 15 years... If we actually voted in our Judges it wouldn't be as messed up as it has been recently. Seems anyone who actually gets put into jail for major crime is out... I know Paul Bernardo is still in prison for his crime but his partner she's out, so as you can see our justice system isn't greatest but can be effective at certain times... Again we should vote in our Judges this way there wouldn't be this in effectiveness in the Justice system here in Canada. That is my little spit on the justice in Canada, I know it isn't much but its my thoughts about the situation in our system here.

Now goverment wise, I am not happy one bit! Yes not one bit! One our Prime Minister wants to legalize marijuana, 2 I am sure our taxes are going to go up... Ontario the Premier she wanted to cut out or cut down my disability pension which I wasn't happy with... Now she is giving me more money?! Like what the heck?! I am not one bit happy with her because she cannot make up her mind what she wants to do. One thing that is good is family's with low income family's will get more money which is good... I shouldn't complain about getting more money... LOL I should be entirely happy about this!

Have a great night guys,

Chris
