Events Are Staying The Same This Year!

I know there has been no news on the blog nor the website itself about events and with my dad's health I was holding back on the announcement. However with him recovered I am happy to say ALL Events are remaining the same this year for the most part with an addition and removal of 1 or 2:

May- Maple Festival in Bowmanville

June- Peony Festival, Oshawa

July- Canada Day (Returning since 2019?, TBD)

August-  Rib  Fest, Oshawa

                Kars on King, Oshawa

September- Orono Fair

October- Apple Festival, Bowmanville

November-  The Royal Agricultural Winter Fair, Toronto

Tree Lighting and Merry Berry Market, Oshawa

December- Tyrone Parade of Lights 2024

                    Toronto Christmas Market 2024

The event that has been removed as it is not local it's in the north and little far to go is the Auto Fest which I was really devasted about but it is what it is, I have added in an event. Anyways that is the post for today, I will talk to you all tomorrow.

The Royal Winter Fair 2023

My job never ends, from podcasting to blogging to editing to going to events and Fairs this year has been eventful I can honestly say. Anyways this is the 101st Royal Agricultural Winter Fair and unfortunately missed the 100th last year but heard from a vendor that it was very busy place last year. Anyways they had Tack for horses and going with the theme of the Fair being equestrian, farm, also crops and farming. Also Fudge which we got my mom a piece and I tried a chocolate Cheesecake and will talk about that the food review posts with the samples and the meals I had out.

Of course they had cheesecake, Food court area with basically what they had 4 years ago when we went there last. They had beef jerky which we tried some and bought some for ourselves as we tried it and again I will talk about it on the blog later. They had a lot of things even Salami's which we found out Port Perry has a Farmers Market in the late spring, summer and early fall. They had Holstein show for the 5 year old cows and also another one that we saw late called the Summer Herfer class. They have their gourds, not as many as they did 4 years back, they had the grains as always which I did a comparison for my dad via an app for photos. They had chickens which I have a cool 3 second video of the Rooster crowing and chickens being chickens. Also have the Super Dogs in their own section a kids play area. Also saw the bees as always, found the queen very quickly. Finally we saw the Rode Ponies and the 3 horse hitch which was really cool in the Coliseum along with art, shirts, cup and much more. I could go all day but that is the post for now, I'm sorry this was overboard but thank you for reading and I will speak to you all at 1 pm ET.

Back @ The Royal Winter Fair This Week in 4 Years!

For the first time in 4 years, I will be returning to The Royal Winter Fair since November 2019 before the pandemic start. I know I've been on edge about going back and contracting COVID again but I will be wearing my mask and hope my dad does too just to be on the safe side as Toronto is where I got sick with it in the first place. However this is the first time for this event again and I have missed it dearly. I am so happy to be returning to the Royal again after a 4 year absence from it. I will have my phone and take a ton of pics of the show itself.

However, I will not be attending the horse show since there isn't one during the afternoon during the week and there use to be but not anymore. It would be late for us to get out of there and back home so it's definitely not worth it but if it was on a weekend... Most definitely yes. Always next year. However I'll be there taking notes and pictures to talk about my first time back at The Royal Winter Fair for the first time in 4 years. This has indeed been long overdo and excited for this week getting back into events locally and abroad meaning Toronto as I have two schedule. Anyways that is the post for today and as always I will speak to you all tomorrow!

Cancelled Going To Events For The Remainder of 2020

As Founder and Owner of ChrisBOnTheWeb, I have come to a very difficult decision late last night.  As you all know we are all dealing with COVID-19 and most of the events locally here and in Toronto have been cancelled. Which made me come to a very, very difficult decision to CANCEL any of the events that were planned into May right through to the end of the year. These are the following events that I am cancelling going to this year:

Bowmanville Maple Festival- May 2020
Food Truck Friday, Bowmanville- June 2020
Canada Day Celebrations- July 2020
Rib Fest, Durham Ontario- August 2020
Orono Fair (Fair was cancelled itself)- September 2020
Polish/Ukrainian Festival- September 2020
Apple Festival- October 2020
The Royal Winter Fair- November 2020
Tyrone Parade of Lights- December 2020

Now we do not know about Polish/Ukrainian Festivals, Apple Fest, The Royal Winter Fair and Tyrone Parade of Lights but as for me this year, I am planning to not attend any of these festivals as it is uncertain what the outcome of this virus will be, whether we get a second wave of the virus but HONESTLY as I said to my Staff, I do not feel comfortable going into large crowds, especially not this soon after the virus is over, just do not feel quite comfortable and it will take me some time to get use to being out and about in the public again but come 2021 we will be back at events and stronger then before. So this means any flyers, I hand out right now will be CBOTW (Including Power Rangers Collaboration Podcast) & Everything About Reality TV for promotion, nothing else. I apologize for the inconvienence but as I stated with the current events in the world, I think this is the best move for CBOTW and mainly myself as I do every single event. We look forward to 2021 Events and again we are deeply sorry as we know you enjoyed those event posts but we promise to make it up to you guys for the rest of this year.

Presto Mishap Last Weekend At The Royal Winter Fair (Throwback Thursday Story)

As you all know back on last Saturday, I went to The 96th Royal Agricultural Winter Fair in Toronto. You all do know that everything at the Royal went fine, there was no problem with that which brings me up to towards the end where I just lost it and got mad out of nowhere. I let my head wander on our way back to the Horse Palace and that is when I realized I did indeed forgot to tap out on my Presto Card. What is a presto? I put money on it that I can tap on and off my local transit but also Go Transit, TTC and other transit systems that use the Presto system here in Ontario or the Greater Toronto Area. At first I was livid, pissed off. Not at my dad, I was more pissed off at myself and I ended up putting myself down, calling myself stupid that I indeed forgot to tap off. We all make these mistakes but my main concern was the fact I was going to lose money on my card due to this very stupid and idiotic mistake I made. Yes it really sucks but it is just another life lesson I have made and I need to learn to remember and I know at these events it can be hard to remember everything. There is so much that processes in my head during these and so much to see and do there so I can see where my head was wondering off on me. Also the fact I was so excited to be there and see what the fair gave us this year.

There is a second side of this, Presto has changed things around where it cuts it off at a certain point when you forget to tap off let's say from where I live all the way into Exhibition Place in Toronto, they will cut off the amount at Toronto Union Station which is great. They never use to have this before and before it was really dumb the way they had it and one of my former staff from back in the YouTube era that helped me made the same mistake as I did but he had to get the amount put back onto the card but I didn't. I re tapped and tried to tap twice but it wouldn't let me so it automatically tapped off for me when I made the mistake. I like the new system they got now, it is so much better and I didn't have to call up Presto to fix my screw up. It would of taken me a day or two for it to get back on and I would of had to re fill my presto card at the ticket booth. If Exhibition ticket office wasn't opened we would of had to take the streetcar to Union to re fill it which meant extra time in Toronto itself but least that wasn't the case as my dad looked it up on our way home on the train. Was a eventful day and even with this slight mistake that was made I am going to learn from it and not make this mistake again in the near future.

The Royal Agricultural Winter Fair 2018

I got to go to The Royal Agricultural Winter Fair with my dad and I had my Media Pass this year once again which I appreciate the Media Pass Staff giving me the pass once again this year and it was a great time indeed. So we left the house, which we were originally going to be leaving from Oshawa but we wanted hot drinks and a treat to get our morning started obviously. So we ended up in Whitby and we got there and I had to add on to my Presto which I will be doing a throwback Thursday story this week about a Presto card mishap during the fair. Anyways the lady there whom mind you was so helpful to me but she told us that there are no trains going into or from Oshawa/Whitby stations for a reason I yet to find out but just looked and apparently it is happening all weekend long with hourly service which would of really put us behind on schedule if we missed the train we would of had to wait an entire hour which would of stunk.

So we got at Exhibition Place at a reasonable time and we had a bit of time to look around before the Royal Horse Show begun. We looked at the animals first, the sheep and goats and I thought about my teach Mr. Plishka's comment about the goats or my friend Dougie whom use to call me an "Old Goat" ha ha. , We also saw the cows as well. Now mind you we rushed the cows but went back through in between and I will get into that shortly.  As you see on the left of the text content I got a cow actually posing for the picture

which is very rare to happen. There was Milking Short Horn, Areshire, Holsteen, Jersey Cows, Angus beef Cows, you name it! Also they had goat judging going on around where the goats, rabbits were. Mainly it was goats in the one area. We then went to the Royal Horse Show which is a tradition with my dad and I, we always go to the Horse Show as it is now a part of the entire experience. The Horse show also included Jumping Speed Competition. We went back into agricultural show floor, they had Horse equipment, saddles, boots, blankets. Also they had one amazing BBQ and quite expensive @ $5,000 but it was huge and really nice! They had Apple Dumplings as well and booths from Muskoka, Hawberry Farms, Thompson Strawberry Farms and much more from local farms as well. Albion Hills farms was there and their pizza looked so amazing and smelled good. They had the Wheat, both bunched up and the grains itself. Also barely, soybeans, oats which horses love and also Corn! They once again had peppers & tomatoes  plants this year which was different. They had chickens with the eggs this year which I need to do some research on that this week. Also the Butter Sculptures which there wasn't wasn't many but remember this was the start of the Royal and very much early in the 10 days of the Fair but watching them sculpt the butter is so amazing, I could sit there all day watching it. The cows were being judged and I tried from the other side of the ring to get a picture but it wasn't easy but got one from the west side of the ring. Also there was Pigs, the mother with the young pigs but the younger pigs weren't piglets they were fairly good side now. There was Weaner Pigs, baby calves and some of the them were actually nice and fury and I managed to get pictures but you can check out my Instagram for more pictures which I will be posting up today throughout the entire day into the evenings I will post up some stuff too.  Now back to the horse show, we missed the Percheron Jumping Competition but that's OK. Also entertainer Pogo Champs which was really cool to see and my dad was talking to me about Pogos back when he was younger. They also had the Clydesdale two horse team as well.  They had the Single Road to Wagon and also Percheron two wheel cart which I wasn't expecting the wheels of the cart to be that big and never seen these before. Also the last performance we saw was Guy Mclean with his horses and I remember one of the horses name was Lighting.

Finally we went to the Horse Palace as we decided to not stay and watch the Belgium 6 horse team at the Royal Horse Show however after walking around the upstairs of the Horse Palace, we managed to actually see the Belgium 6 horse team leaving but not just 1 but all 6 teams we came from 2 different directions where we were, the left side of the picture on the left and where you see the 6 horse team coming from more in the middle to the left side. Sorry for the bright pictures, I gotta learn how to take better pictures in the lighting but you get the idea where I'm coming at with the picture but it was indeed really neat to see this happen especially when we were present. We saw on our way out, a herd of cows with people directing them, maybe just walking em around a bit, not sure but was cool and you will have to check out my Instagram today with more pictures. Overall was a great day despite the train mishap and us being shuttled to Ajax from Whitby but it was all worth it in the end at the end of the day! Cannot wait to return next year.

I Got A Media Pass For The Royal Winter Fair

I just found out this week, I was accepted into getting a Media Pass so I can do my blogging around The Fair part of the Royal Winter Fair on November 3rd which gives me all the permission in the world to take as many pictures as I want. I have had the media pass before, 2014, 2017 & this year, 2018 so 3 times in almost 4 years since Chris B On The Web existed or began it's long journey to success as you now see it to this very day. I was worried when I got home from Minneapolis that I wouldn't be getting the pass at all as I was extremely late submitting my application for it, but it wasn't too late and hey I got the media pass and I worried over it for nothing, like honestly.  I seem to worry about the small things when it comes to these things and I'm sure if I was able to explain I would but I didn't have to, I guess applications can be in within October instead.

However I am very excited to be going to The Royal Agricultural Winter Fair 2018 and cannot wait to see both the show and the horse show and what amazing things are going to happen. I will be on and off Instagram and Twitter throughout the day and I will have my mobile battery charger for my phone with me in case of emergencies. I was suppose to have Dave come with me but that is all up in the air right now and I am feeling a bit nervous having him with me as he's not been through what I experienced so if he does come along for this adventure with me, then I will be giving him a crash course on this entire adventure and what to do and what pictures to take as for those who didn't know he was my camera man once upon a time so he has to learn what pictures I need so I guess direct him like I did when I was still on YouTube. Either way this will be a fun trip and day and looking forward to even sharing it with one of my former team members if he decides to come along for the trip, it will be once again another great year at The Royal Winter Fair!

Favorite Events, I Have Been To!

There has been many events, I have enjoyed going to, even with events that I do not even go to anymore that made this list of events, I really enjoyed going to but didn't go back due to circumstances.

The very first event, would be the event, I have been going for many years minus 2015 & 2017 due to certain circumstances those two years but 2018 is to be promising, especially this year which has been already very productive with 2 collaboration requests, 1 collab with a friend of mine, an interview with a friend as well. Lots to promote at Autism Celebration this year, so I will be back at the event this year!

Second event, I have been going to for many years, even before this online media journey even started, I am talking about The Royal Winter Fair. I only missed one out of all the years as I got to the fair and I got really ill to a point I had to go home early, which I was disappointed by but I've gone to the Royal every year since that one bad year with having the flu.

My 3rd event I love going to is the old 50s festival which is now named something else apparently but we don't go to it, due to the fact it is on the weekend of fathers day and my dad is normally busy with going to golfing on the Saturday and watches the PGA (U.S. Open Golf Tournament) we are unable to go but some years, they place it earlier, so we get the chance to actually go to it.

Very next event, I have to put on this list is the Polish/Ukrainian Festival, we've gone every year minus those 2 years of constant rain each and every year, ending up doing our own Polish/Ukrainian festival with the food. Love going to this event each and every year and wouldn't miss it for the world!

Finally on my list is the Tyrone Parade of lights, gone every year, minus 1 - 2 years due to either forgetting the parade of lights with the tractors were on or it was based on the bad weather once again. in the recent years I've gone to it minus this year's as it runs on my birthday, so I will not be going but will go again next year for sure.

Well there you have it, my list of events I really enjoyed or do enjoy going to each and every year, I'm sure there are some I would like to add but it would make this post way to long for you guys to read but these are the basic ones I've gone to and enjoy going to and will be back to it this year,

Have a great afternoon!

After The Royal Winter Fair 2017 Stories

So as you know by my previous blog this morning I blogged about the Royal Agricultural Winter Fair and this blog will not be as long as the other one but I had a really neat stories from at the Royal to after as we were heading out the door and in this blog I will talk about the 2 different stories I had during the Royal Winter Fair this year.

First story I wanna tell is my dad and I were where the sheep and the goats, rabbit were, we walked by and a goat was standing up against it's food container to just eat it, I was just amazed by the goat able to stand on it's back two legs. I am attached the picture to this blog post but how the goat managed to hold on to the fencing with it's hooves its beyond me but it was a neat moment and of course the character coming out of the animals. The goat came over put its hoofs on the top of the fence looking for free hand outs of course.

Second story I would like to share and I already told the story about the horse neighing when we walked away but this was after we left The Royal Winter Fair we walked out into mass chaos and noise and of course as I remember as we are getting off the Go Train and also going into The Royal Winter Fair, The Toronto FC Soccer are playing the Semi Final game against a NY team so that is why but a lot of chanting and noise and chaos, wish I had the camera out filming it so I could put it in the blog or even take a photo but it was chaotic. So were waiting for the Go Train and a gentleman being friendly and pleasant with us asked if we went to the game well he offered us napkins to wipe off the bench but after he asked if we he to the game and I told him we went to The Royal and of course he said its always a fun time. We asked him since the FC loss and the 2 game series was tied what happens next and he told us they went with the number of goals they have scored so of course the FC have advanced on. Then he went the other way then he offered to give us a FC Flag and we said yes so I got it in my room and will put it up next time they are playing. So those are my few little stories I had from my day at The Royal and this wraps up this years Royal Winter Fair till next year, I cannot wait to go again.

Have a great night and will talk to you in tomorrow's blog post!

Chris

The Royal Agricultural Winter Fair 2017

Here we are at another Royal Agricultural Winter Fair, and I was merely excited, I mean I was raring to go this year in good intentions of no problems happening this year as there was an argument this year and fair warning we were having too much fun. So we got there at around 1130 am, got my media pass.  Also I have added the amazing Winter fair logo display they made in the main lobby they made when you entered the Royal Winter Fair. It was the main thing I saw when I entered in the Royal this year. So it sure did bring in a warm welcome to the Fair this year. Of course I had to buy the horse show ticket as I didn't have a pass for it this year so I had to buy the extra ticket to get into that part of the event. So we looked around a bit before the Horse show, if I am corrected we had an hour and a half to kill before we went into the Ricoh Coliseum for the Royal Horse Show. We looked around for a while at the sheep and the goats and yes Plishka the goats didn't get cut! LOL... Sorry small joke that ran back in my high school years back in the day.
We looked at the Butter Sculptures as well that people put a lot of hours in and it they are sure very talented individuals to do such artistry with the butter sculptures, I remember one year someone did the head of Darth Vader from the Star Wars movies. We also saw cows like the Angus cows, Jersey, Guernsey, Ayeshire, Milking Short horn, Swiss and of course our milking cows the Holsteins. Did you know Cows eat 100 lbs of feed a day and 20 lbs of grain a day and a bathtub of water a day? Also they lay down 13 hours a day and eating 8 hours a day! I know crazy right, I never knew this till I read the sign there which was a cool neat facts on cows.

So we went into the Royal Horse show with no ideas what all the horse jumping programming was and it was eye opening on the different programs for Horse Jumping. In my entire life I've never heard of Hunter Derby and it's similar but it is hard to explain but here is what the course looks like on the picture on the left side. Hunter Derby began in England, so that is the origin of Hunter Derby. After that they went to the Single Road to Bike competition which is like Hackney but again it is a hard one to explain as I have never rode a horse in my life, well not yet at least, maybe one day I will get to ride a horse! They also had a featured entertainer named "Bob Kur" not sure if that is the proper name but he is

an entertainer that goes around North America Entertaining people. Followed by that was the Junior Jumpers now note between them setting things up we went back out to the Agricultural portion of the fair looking at booths from Northern Ontario, especially one from Manitoulin (my stompin grounds back in the summer) and it is always nice to see Manitoulin business at the Royal Winter Fair each and every year. Also Honey, beewax pickles, tarts, chicken eggs also Oats, Hay, Corn Barly. There was so much to see there and I know there are story's I wanna tell on a second blog post which will come later on today as a 2 part blog. Also had vegetables, giant pumpkin weighing over 1200 lbs. Also a long parsnip, Rutabaga, apple judging, cheese like cheddar cheese, egg plant & cabbage, the list is endless.

Finally at the end of the day my dad got a muffin and a coffee and I got a chocolate cookie with a peppermint tea and we went into the horse palace as that is the way we go out and plus it is a nice way to finish up the day at The Royal Winter Fair and it's be a tradition for both my dad and I for many, many years. After we finished our treat and I took pictures of a few riders riding their horses in the warm up ring. After that we walked around the horse palace and we saw a white horse, absolutely beautiful and loved every moment of attention it got and we walked away away and we hear a neigh from that same horse as it was a sign "hey get back here and give me attention" But overall this year was a great and fun experience and cannot wait for the next year as I will be once again doing the Royal Winter Fair and trust me I am looking forward to it once again! I will be doing a side blog little later about some story after the Royal Winter Fair.
