Fleetwood Mac and Tom Petty Tribute Concert!

Once again, I went to a tribute concert for Fleetwood Mac and Tom Petty and it was fun. We weren't sure with my mom still coughing but her coughing has been better now since Tuesday morning so we went to this concert. That is why I went off the clock between 6 and 1030 pm the other night and was away from social media for that time but either way it was a mash up of two bands or band and artist depending which way they were going for with the concert and I may not know. First was Fleetwood Mac which In love and have some songs on my iTunes here in the studio computer which is awesome honestly. Few Honorable mentions "Go Your Own Way" and also "Don't Stop, Thinking About Tomorrow" two of my favourite songs and a lot of the singers, the one guy on guitar sounded like him too which was really good and the other lady sounded just like Stevie Nicks so that was really cool.

The second part of the show after the intermission was Tom Petty who passed away in 2017. It was also really good music, there was at least 2 songs I knew so these two bands I didn't know a lot of the songs but I mean a few popular ones and I need to listen to more of their songs honestly but the two songs I mentioned are: "Free Fallin" & "Won't Back Down" and maybe that is because those are the two songs my dad played in the car on our travels perhaps and the reason why I know those 4 tunes. All in all, the concert was great and I enjoyed it all. The nice topper was we got to sign Happy Birthday to one singer as it was his birthday on the night we actually went so it was extra nice I'm sure for that. That is today's post and I will talk to  you on Monday!

Eagles Tribute Concert A Week Ago...

I am finally back after being absent but I wanna thank my Community Manager for watching over things and posting up earlier this week but I am back to post. As she said I will be doing an additional post Saturday but anyways today I am talking about the Eagles  Tribute Concert. Now the band is a great, love their music and I said there was only 1 song I knew which was Hotel California but wroong there was several including a song from Don Henley, "Heart of The Matter" which is one of his own solo songs he did between the Eagles break as they were on and off over the time but are back as a band and Glenn Frey's son is involved so that is really cool his son has joined the band. So this helped me realize the time frame what they did after they broke up as a band as they gave some of the history of the Eagles band too. Believe it or not, they were a tribute band since the Eagles started so that was really awesome!

Anyways off topic, the concert was amazing they really made up for the mishap and what do I mean by this? Well with this pandemic they've had to cancel two or three times over the last 2 years and the last time, we went and they cancelled with a sign on the door that the concert was cancelled due to some of the band members ill. So they really made it up to it little over 2 hours of a performance with an encore of 2 songs which was awesome to hear.  So they made up for the show we have missed during this pandemic. We enjoyed oursleves and ran into our neighbors next door to us and we ended up chatting for about 20 minutes before heading home so was nice to catch up with them. Anyways that is today's post and I will talk to you all tomorrow for the Fiesta Week post as I am doing things a little backwards this week but it will all make sense to you guys when I do the end of the week update on Saturday instead of Sunday.

How I Got Into ABBA Music....

Even though I grew up with the older music because of my parents, I had absolutely had no clue who ABBA was yet their music was and still is amazing music to this day. However, I really got into their music and I really mean got into their music thanks to a musical called "Mamma Mia" which is really well known even to this day due to the 2 movies they did which I absolutely love both of them. However that is not the only thing, the earliest I started to getting into the music was because of Mamma Mia the Musical which I saw in 2000 with my mom and dad as a birthday or Christmas gift if I remember correctly.  Either I'm an ABBA nut, I even own the soundtracks from the musical on stage and the first movie so you can sort of say that I am a bit obsessed with the music and listen to it when I need a pick me up in my moods from time to time and yes some of the songs want me to make me dance from time time.

The saying goes, the classics never die and that's entirely true too, they don't die. Even now their as popular as when they came out at their original release. Either way I love the music and yes there are more songs that I enjoyed more which I probably and will do a blog post about down the road which ones I really love the most like a top 5 or top 10 list and I probably will by end of this week, most likely at the end of this week or early next week at the latest but either way you guys will be getting a top 10 list or a top 5 so be sure to keep checking back for that soon!

My Favorite Rock Songs

There is a ton of Rock Songs I can even mention from the top of my head that I can even bring up but in today's post I will mention a few and I know already a few but anyways I will quit stalling and here are some of my favorite songs which mostly are old school songs but nothing wrong with that:

Turn Up The Radio by Autograph: Heard this on a live show the Raunchfoxxx Foxxxcast which he has passed away 5 years ago. Either way one of my favorite songs regardless and still am listening to it to this day when I am not listening to Christmas music as I am doing right now but it will be one of the first songs I will play.

Thunderstruck by AC/DC: I admit it is one of my favorite songs and also my nephew's fave and I think I got him into it as they heard some of the classic rock I was playing in my studio when he came down to see me.

Knockin on Heaven's Door by Guns N Roses: One of two G n' R short for Guns N Roses and I know that isn't the original song and I have the original song by Bob Dylan on my ITunes so I got both versions. Also this is NOT and yes I put NOT in bold and caps because this is one of two songs from the band which is my 4th song that is my favorite.

Sweet Child O' Mine: Was one of my Staff Sue's favorite song and every time I listen to it, I think of her and remember the good times my team and I had with her when she was still alive.

Blaze of Glory by Bon Jovi: Honestly first time I heard this song was in a show by a fellow Podcaster friend of mine, Jimi which he has an awesome podcast. Anyways soon as I heard this I requested this on his show. I like any of the Bon Jovi songs really.

There are more songs that I could add into my list but again this blog post would be endless post like usual but hope you guys enjoyed this post and it is good to get back on track with posts and I'm sorry about yesterday being late but today it's back on track.

Do I Prefer Another Version of A Song or Original?

This is the easiest question for me to answer as yes I am a music fan and enjoy it on my spare time when not recording my own personal podcast or Power Rangers Collaboration Podcast. I know there is different versions of the song for example Knockin on Heaven's Door which was done by Bob Dylan which I actually have in my collection of music that I have accumulated over the years. Another one I can give as an example is Na na na na hey hey hey kiss him goodbye there is numerous versions of that song. That is not the point that I wanted to make the point I wanted to make some of the other versions are good, sometimes even better but you cannot go wrong with the original version, it is where it began and yes I do prefer the original but always listening to other versions and I like quite a lot of them actually and they are good.

Either way music keeps me distracted during all this pandemic and keeps me busy but for the answer to the question I am more into the original but again the other versions I do not mind to be honest but maybe it depends on my mood from day to day but I have no idea what in the world I am saying honestly as I am just rambling on right now but music seems to keep my mood good at times and I it is hard to come up with the right words to get my normal everyday length of a post but today is truly hard. So in conclusion of this post I could go either way with the songs and again maybe it depends on my mood from a day to day basis. Sorry this post is late but better late then never really.

Favorite Rock Bands

First of all, my apologies for not having the blog post up at all yesterday same with the podcast but as you know I am sick and finding it hard to get work done but also I had Larry over so I kind of should of just done a blog and still record but post up the episode today and that was my original thought when I schedule but that is not what I am talking about, I am talking about my Favorite rock bands which is the most easiest as I got a bunch of them on my list and this is why I decided to write this list blog for you guys today:

1. AC/DC- Ever since hearing Thunderstruck at the Ontario Junior Hockey Games, I instantly loved their tunes. Also Hells Bells Highway to Hell, TNT

2. Metallica- I have heard of a mash up of the well known song Enter Sandman and I listened to the original song but haven't listened to many others tunes by them.

3. Autograph- One of my favorite tunes by this band, Turn Up The Radio which I heard on a broadcaster's channel, however they have passed away unfortunately 4 years ago today. May he R.I.P. Was a great broadcaster too!

4. Beatles- Growing up, my parents introduced me into the oldies listening to CKDO while growing up, I definitely got an appreciation for the older rock and roll which is good I can appreciate modern and older rock.

5. Hedley- I discovered this band during my time on Riot Radio while being an On-Air Host for them from January to April and I know it's pop and rock but some of the tunes are really rock and I enjoy their music. I don't think I actually have it ripped onto my ITunes right now.

There is my list of Rock bands I do like and I do have a bunch more but it would be an endless blog post but is neat to share my list with older and newer and I like the 80's rock a bit too so bit of both. Well a good 90% of these bands are older but there is nothing wrong with that honestly. I am old school for being a Millennial but those who know or didn't know I was born in the 80's so I guess I have to know music from that era too I guess but like I said above my parents got me into the oldies so it is now in my blood and I listen to the oldies plus the newer music as well, so a mix pretty much. What is your Top 10 Rock Bands? Leave it in the comments below and I will be speaking to you guys again tomorrow on tomorrow's blog post which will be an interesting post so to speak.

Stampeders Concert, Friday, November 4th, 2016

I totally forgot to post yesterday as my mind was set on being with my niece and nephew and before that sleeping till 1 pm in the afternoon, my sleep is really messed up. However Friday night I got to go to The Stampeders Concert right here in town and you are wondering who the heck are the Stampeders I will save you the trouble by saying Google it... Ha Ha! Little blog humor there as you have noticed. They started in 1966 and they originally have 6 members, now down to 3 members and still the original 3, Ronnie, Rich and Kim. When they first started the concert, I had to try and grasp the music but I'd say after 2 - 3 songs I got right into it. Ronnie, Kim and Rich's humor was very comical and the way they made smartass remarks with each other kept me on laughing. Their was one moment I was literally in tears and rubbing my eyes from laughing so hard. I also was familar with a few songs such as Sweet City Woman, Carry Me and their rendition of Hit The Road Jack featuring Wolfman Jack (but he wasn't there, Ronnie fit the role for that part of the song) The two top favorite versions of Hit The Road Jack as follow

The Stampeders: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OOVbJ9kMkyw
Ray Charles: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CyVuYAHiZb8

Trust me I was laughing at the lyrics as their are ridiculous lyrics but one of the funniest oldies song out there. We had a 15 minute break in between the 2 sets. At he very end the second or 3rd last song was Sweet City Woman which I think was the best idea putting one of their most popular songs out there for the end, like the saying goes, save the best for last! Kim had one amazing drumming solo at the end of the and it amazed me how he could be able to do that in his 70's and he went on with his solo about 3 - 4 minutes and it wasn't light strokes, it was hard core drumming and I was so amazed by it too! Ronnie saying this which was funny: "Were too old to go off then come back on" and of course they did their On Core for 2 more songs.

On our way out we didn't realize that we were in the line for autographs and of course my mom said, "Chris would like to get an autograph" I didn't say say no, I said yes of course! Once in a lifetime opportunity. so we waited in line for the singing trio to come out and the lineup went fast as we were near the top of the seats to begin with. When it came to my turn I quickly bought a The Stampeders CD and got Rich, Kim and Ronnie to sign it both and was really neat to talk to Rock Stars from back in the good ole day! Ronnie of course made me laugh calling Kim an old guy... Haha.

In conclusion to this rather lengthy blog post but you guys seem to enjoy the longer posts from time to time but anyways I told my mom and dad I'd like to see more older bands in person, I will not be young forever and I should enjoy these moments and seeing some familiar bands from the 80's and 90's. Also I am very familiar with these bands as I GREW up with these bands living with my parents all my life and listening to the music in the car traveling on vacations or to places locally or to the big smoke Toronto!

Have a great Sunday!
