Silent Lake- Fall Colors 2021!

On Friday when the End of The Week went up on the site here I was up North for the day since I finished up Operation Overdrive. Now the leaves, well some of them or most of them were all down on the ground as we went up a little too late. We should of done that a week or so before but we know for next year. Anyways we started our adventure down at the Day Beach with Lunch which consisted of Kielbassa, Cheese and crackers and grapes and water. Then we went to our old stomping grounds where we actually camped aka Camp ground # 127 at Silent Lake which we booked every year for 5 years or more but always great memories from there. We drove around the loop took some pictures as we went around and we parked and walked down to the dock and looked out then we got hiking to our other old stompin grounds Pincer Bay Beach & the rock which we spent a ton of time swimming and when I was younger making sand castles.

We then had our Gatorades and went back on our way to the car. We stopped at our little rocky place we spent time at when we were in Granite Ridge Campgrounds and we headed our way home. However we went through Haliburton on the way home and the colors were spectacular but the problem there with that the leaves were mostly down by then so it wasn't as great as we thought but we have to go a bit earlier then usual instead of what we did on this trip. However it was a fun trip either way and yes it was a trip down memory lane once again for me and I am so glad to see people camping there and goes to show that camping is indeed very safe especially during this pandemic there is nothing unsafe about it whatsoever. That is my post for today, hope you enjoyed it and tomorrow will be about Halton County Radial Museum.

Silent Lake & Haliburton Ontario 2019!

Yesterday I got to go up north for the day with my dad and got to spend some time in the great white north. It also gave me the time to start reflecting on things not just CBOTW related and my life. My life hasn't been the most happiest nor positive in the last while and I need to get back into a more happier mood and positive attitude as it really gone south and yesterday was a good day to be out despite it being cold and what not but we dressed warm so we were perfect. Anyways we got there and went to our own stopping grounds campsite 127 where we last stayed which was years ago when we were staying with the trailer. Then we went down the hill to the dock took pics out there, then followed by our little rock area. Then we headed out to the day beach. We did a couple of the loops where we camped but that was pretty much it. The Day beach was the last place we went to.

Then we headed our way to Haliburton as it is on our route heading home and we got to see the colors which I think honestly was about 90 - 95% full colors. We got to Haliburton and we went to McKeck's which a food review is coming this upcoming week as I have two reviews coming out this week back to back so stay tuned for that as well. Overall we had a good day and we had a very busy day but least I did sleep well that night and able to get sleep for the next day which is the York-Durham Railway which I will be talking about on tomorrow's blog post. Had a small issue with the tickets that same night and I wasn't very happy about the way things ended up but all worked out both the trip to Silent Lake and this weekend and I cannot wait to talk about it to you guys about the other places I have been to and I hope you enjoyed this blog post and I will see you guys in the next post tomorrow hopefully on time.

The Next 24 Hours Will Be Busy For Me!

So the next 24 hours will be a busy one for me, as I will be with my dad doing things in the next  24 hours both today and tomorrow. This is why I decided to make a post and I think I am going to do some kind of post, however I wasn't going to originally post something up, however decided to make one since my weight loss is totally off kilter now due to eating out so much this week which isn't right and I know its for my mom's birthday and we didn't wanna cook but to eat 3 days in a row is much. Anyways here is what is on tap for me for today and tomorrow:

Today: I am heading up north for the day to Silent Lake Provincial Park for the day to enjoy the Fall colors as I am sure this is the time it will be really nice to see the leaves in full colors and hopefully the gate is open where we can go right through the entire park and see the colors for ourselves but we will have to definitely wait and see. Also we will be going through the Haliburton area on our way back down towards home and stopping at Makeck's which Walt Mackeny was a former Leaf player and he opened his own restaurant up in the area and it is an yearly tradition for my dad and I.

Tomorrow: Tomorrow we are going on the York Durham Railway on a small Hour and a half trip to Goodwood and back as Saturdays they do not go to Stouville which I wanted but they were completely sold out and I guess they are becoming more and more popular and that is truly great to hear and never know I may have had a part in it when we filmed in there as it is free promotion for them and you guys know I'd promote our local Heritage Railway anytime. I am looking forward to going on as I haven't been on it in a few years probably since the year Larry and I filmed up there.

There is what is what I am up to this weekend or start to the weekend and I think it will be definitely a good time and only the start of things technically as Sunday is another story and like I said you guys are going to know by Monday when I make the initial post about it but enjoy all the posts, today, tomorrow and Sunday as there is a ton of content in the way of the blog coming your way over the next couple of days. Anyways thanks for reading this post today and I will to you guys tomorrow.

First Time I Saw A Bear! (Flashback Friday)

So years ago, as I do not actually remember the year, probably something like 2011, 2012 or 2013 at the most we were on our way back from the neighbors cottage back to camp as it was about 45 minutes to another hour to my neighbors cottage.  But anyways we were on our way back to camp and I saw something at the corner of my right eye. It was black and what I saw was the back (the ass) of an end of a black bear. I knew they were around in Northern Ontario but hey this is a first to see an actual Bear in person. I think it was a mother bear and her cubs crossing. Least we weren't stupid enough to feed it chocolate like John Candy did in the Great Outdoors. LOL.

It is quite hard to see bears, they come out when you least expect them, you don't bug them, they wont bug you. Unless like I specifically said above then you are quite fine. However I know the mother bears are very protective of their youngin's. It was a neat experience to actually see a bear in person and I know Silent Lake was known for the bears in the last couple of years we camped there. Camping always entailed with us going to the cottage and it was quite the nice surprise to see nature at it's best especially late at night and we are talking about 8 pm EDT to be exact as we usually got back around 10 pm at night as we stay there quite a very long time.

Finally I can say it is off my bucket list to see nature come out at the best and next week's Throwback Thursday will be as good as this one, because I got a similar post to do next week on the Throwback Thursday Story and it will be another good post as it kind of similar to this post as it was another vacation story.

Silent Lake/Haliburton Trip 2017

So back on Tuesday, I got to go up north and leave everything behind and not worry about anything here at the studio and it was a break to get my head back into game mode as Survivor: Heroes Vs Healers Vs Hustlers was a day away at the time this day trip was worth it and as you read on I will explain more.

My dad and I left around 10 am EST for those who aren't in the EST timezone but we headed up to Silent Lake Provincial Park with the only stop to fill up with gas and a stop at Country Style for a drink and a treat. We got there in pretty good timing it was about 45 mins from the coffee shop and gas station. We got our day pass and went to our old camp ground site # 127 which for many years we use to reserve each and every year not including one year where we were in a different campsite, if I remember correctly, campsite # 124. After that we went down to the water to the dock and our favorite rock we use to hang out on in the evenings.

Following that we went to our Rock for a quick swim and you probably thinking are you nuts Chris? No I did put my feet in the water at the dock and it was warmer then it would be in the summer, so yes it was cool but felt really nice and didn't take me long to put my full body in the water.  I found it hard to tread water as I forgot to bring the flippers I usually have when I go swimming, I didn't think about bringing them out then before or the night before the trip. However, I managed I had to go back to the edge if I needed to because I did struggle quite a lot of tread and probably because I haven't done that in about 4 years. Anyways we went to the day beach walked about for a few minutes and the day beach before we left to head south west down to Haliburton for lunch at Mckecks which is a gastro pub. In the way of the fall colors, it is starting to change, however the problem was because of the hot weather so that is what delayed the fall colors actually turning into the beautiful yellow, orange, red bright colors you normally see. I can say it now it has been a temper mental weather with the temperatures and rain we have had this summer and mother nature gave us a longer extended summer weather but the purpose of the trip was to see the color.

We traveled through some what of nice colors  on the windy roads of on our way to Haliburton not much to talk about but we saw some really old cars and I am talking about cars from the 20's, 30's, 40's and 50's which was really cool. Once we got to Mckecks if you don't know who Walt McKechnie is he was a former Toronto Maple Leaf back in the day,. like in the 60's and 70's. Anyways I got a Cody Burger which consist of a hamburger, obviously, peameal bacon, lettuce, onions and tomato, but I gave my tomato to my dad as I am not a big tomato fan but i will eat it but not too often. We then traveled home and I was tired as heck and slept pretty good until obviously as you know I am writing this in the middle of the night. Anyways I had a good time and I hope you enjoyed reading this blog and sorry for a very late post 3 or 4 days later after the trip. I will be posting up a second blog up later on.

Northern Ontario Day Trip, Day Off!

I enjoyed a day off from the real world, aka working on my website & podcasts and boy it was a fun trip we went back to our old Camping spot which is Silent Lake Provincial Park and also went to Halliburton as well which was a very nice change of scenery. I was completely stress free until I got home and found out a friend decided to deceive and stab me right in the back which is putting a bunch more of stress on me the night before the procedure and making my heart rate gone up a bunch at this moment. But the day was nice leaving at 945 am and back around 6 pm EST so it was almost a 6 hour day and boy I am tired but waiting to go to bed at 1030 maybe 11 pm so I can have a late night snack so I wont be hungry as much tomorrow as I will not be eating till tomorrow afternoon after my procedure. So first stop was at the Country Style, our usual hangout when we use to go up to Silent for Camping which was nice, had a raisin bran muffin for a snack as I didn't eat anything in the morning which is normal for me usual... haha! So we went back to our old campsite # 127, good memories by the way, I have nothing but amazing memories at that campsite and will always remember the good times I had.

We took a trip around our old loop and the know what use to be the first come first serve loop which has electrical and yurts in there as well. Also the 3rd loop in the Granite Ridge Campgrounds. Then we went through Pincer Bay and down to the lake and canoe rental place as well! We headed down to the beach and took some pictures and went to the rock which is I guess you would say closer to the Day Beach.

We headed to the rock and sat there for quite sometime and enjoyed it. Unfortunately we didn't bring out bathing suits and we wish we did, it was warm enough to swim in so we are bringing it for sure next time around. So after that we went to the day beach for a bit and seen the construction going on with their new cabins and showers being installed which look awesome! Same with the gatehouse being re built to the modern time era.

Then we got on our way and headed to Halliburton and saw so amazing colors our way there, picture below:

Now, when I arrived at Halliburton I went to Mckecks for a late lunch and I had a cheese burger with pickle and red onions and boy it was gooood! I put Mustard, Ketchup and Relish on and it tasted delicious! If you are in Haliburton Try it! tastes sooo good! Anyways this is a rather long and lengthy blog post but it was worth the post and to talk about my trip up north and I wanna thank you for reading this blog post and I will do another one tomorrow after the procedure at the hospital and wish me luck in the comments if you want to!
