Mixer Ordered! Not Sure How Long I Will Be Off Air For!

I have officially ordered a brand new Behringer Mixer which I will more then likely do a review on at some point of time. So with the new Mixer coming in, this means there is no ETA as of right now of it's arrival which means with 20 days left of this month, this means it could come within the next 2 - 2.5 Weeks from now. and I know a week and a half from today is the premiere of Season 3 of Entertainment Man Podcast. I know this reaches a lot of alarm bells going off is the 3rd season going to be on schedule? I'm afraid the answer with what I know of right now, the answer is no. I do not know when it comes in. You also have to remember I have to set it up, I have to figure out what is what and how the mix minus on the new board works what the buttons do as there are buttons that I have no dang clue what is what according to what I studied on the image of the mixer on the music store website. So by the time I am ready to record, I will be totally prepared for the return of podcasts.

So with what I said, I am putting Podcasts on Hiatus until further notice. I probably said that before but what I can tell you that I didn't tell you guys is that I am aiming to return in July for Podcasts meaning both "Entertainment Man Podcast" and "Power Rangers Collaboration Podcast." However, I had to update this post and a gentleman from the music store Long and McQuade call me on my cell and spoke to him for a few minutes and let him know I've ordered it but not sure when its going to arrive so they told me it should be here by end of the week at the start of the weekend. So it is not 100% if it will be here by the weekend so this is why I am just not able to give you an date right now so stay tuned to Social Media and this blog for updates. I will be sure to give you guys updates when I have some updates on the situation. Until tomorrow have a great rest of your afternoon!

Podcast Updates and Made A Decision!

As I said on my Social Media, I have my reasons why an episode was removed off the feed but now that has happened, you probably wondering what's the plan to make up the episode. I actually have a bonus episode but I have to listen to it back to make sure the mic doesn't cut out on me at any point as you know I have had some mixer issues with the power supply unit but I will listen to it before I decide to release it. However now with the Mixer issues, I may be sitting on this bonus episode till I get the problem resolved and ready. What do you expect, I've used this mixer non stop especially with a former "Everything About Reality TV" Podcast and current Power Rangers Podcast and Entertainment Man Podcast, you can imagine shes getting tired and these things do not last forever. There will be a parts that breaks right down and right now if that bonus podcast is in good quality then I will be sitting on it till I know what the music store says back to me, hopefully by the time this is out or before or close I will know what's next.

So with the missing episode I have, I am sitting on a bonus episode till further and when the premiere day is determined as of right now, what I am trying to say is, Entertainment Man Podcast and Power Rangers Collaboration Podcast are on hold for a little bit.  Why do I say this well   I heard back from the customer service and they are sending it to my local store and they will put it on Order for me.  Still maybe a be delayed but we will see how things go when I get the item. I can say I am still aiming for July 15th and July 29th, 2021 for Power Rangers Collab returning for more amazing episodes! It is just Entertainment Man Podcast that is pending the start, once I know I can do a week prior release of this bonus but more details is coming soon! I apologize for this inconvenience but these things happen!

What I Have Learned From The Most Recent Collab and Things We Can Improve On....

The most recent episode of Power Rangers Collaboration Podcast, was eye opening and a lot of learning for using the Mix-Minus setup and still a ton to learn with this. As you know as I mentioned on Social Media I couldn't hear Larry and I kind of figured that it had something to do with the mixer board and don't forget I had added the wires to the board and it was truly something to do with the mixer board. Anyways I apparently was messing around with the mixer and pressed a button on the Mixer which activated the lack of sound going through the board onto the recording. Either way the issue was quickly fixed and we recorded. This was very eye opening with this first collab with the Mix-Minus and we have a ton of learning to do and the levels on the mix-minus setup which is a knob on the board I turn to bring Larry onto the recording of the podcast. This was also the first time we actually used it as I haven't had it that long now, only a few weeks and it was not used since last week's recording so it was untested and I can definitely see us running into issues.

Anyways, the point of this post is we still gotta continue on working on levels and we do not really have much to improve just continue on working on levels and ensure we can hear Larry. One thing I am proud of is the conversation between Larry and I and he wanted to get involved and there was times he wanted to chime in and I let him say his peace and he answered my questions too. What I am trying to say is the interaction was a lot better and we're getting better as we continue to progress with the podcast. I have learned a lot from this experience and things are just getting a ton better and the quality of production is getting a lot better now we have this setup just getting use to this new setup. Things are underway and we are getting there with this setup with this hiatus coming very soon we will have plenty of time to change the way we do things. I still gotta talk to my right hand man on this to what the plan is moving forward. Anyways enjoy the pre-written blog posts over the next 4 days, Merry Christmas and I will talk to you all on Monday as I do not normally write posts on Sundays.

What Needs To Be Tested With The New Mix-Minus Setup?

Now that Chris has the Mix-Minus setup and he has it all hooked up and it does work, there is some things that he needs to do with Larry to ensure it works as Chris is no longer using OBS for recording and strictly this setup. Here is what he needs to do over the next few months while testing and making things work great:

- Chris has to work on the levels on both sides, his mic and the guest side of things via Discord or Skype as it hasn't properly been worked out and I think this is why he is thinking about his first guest interview will not be till the end of the month of January.

- He still has to learn how it works and figuring out how to not make the earphones squeal as that has become a problem with the excessive squealing and I've heard it over the phone and it ain't pretty that's for sure.

- He also has to figure out how to run his intro and not stream it into the guest on Discord or Skype as it will come back to the recording and it could be a problem indefinitely be a problem and I suggested he don't have the volume on Larry or any of the guests on at the time and they probably hear it through the mic a bit I'm sure.

- He will also test both Skype and Discord on two different nights to ensure it works on one or the other technically and to which one of the two are the best for recording a podcast and I am sure both will work just fine.

These are the things he needs to work on and learn how it works and it shouldn't take long but with the collab is him getting the next collab notes finished up and that is just one of the reasons why there is a hiatus is the notes are so far behind schedule but least you get Entertainment Man Podcast in the time being while they work on catching up but more information coming tomorrow as there is a part 2 to all of this but different topic tomorrow, until then, have a great rest of your day!

When Did I First Broadcast With A Microphone and Mixer?

Wow this brings me back 6 years ago when I first inquired this mixer and microphones by a donation which since then that mixer has been retired and thrown away as it was an old mixer and it lasted me about 3 years which is not bad but that is when I had to dig into my pocket for a new mic as the other one pretty much bit the dust so it was falling apart of the sound not picking up. So that is when you guys know I picked up my Audio Technica PRO 31 which is still used in this very studio to this very day!  The mic was the first thing to go so I remember using the new microphone on the first mixer I ever had before the Samson MDR624 made it's way into this studio. The of course the mixer I had here in the studio which was an Radio Shack Mixer which was good and I prefer the faders over the knobs which I currently have knobs at this moment but down the road when I need a new one, it will have faders instead. I believe the old mics were also radio shack, one worked the other was dead not working no matter what setting I had it on.

It was my first ever mixer and I will not forget it and boy it was a heavy mixer compare to the board I have now and I got plans for this mixer I got now and only reason the Radio Shack went was because it shorted out on channels on me and plus it was an really old microphone and mixer I'm talking like 20 something odd years old and it was thanks to one of Kerry's Place staff for donating it to The Video Projects Team back in the good old days. Was it worth getting a little more professional as a broadcaster with the microphone and mixer? Yes of course it was! I still to this day active with broadcasting, I just needed the XLR output as I now have a condenser microphone as you guys know and in a little more in a professional setting at this point too.

My First Ever Mixer and Mics I Ever Owned!

This is going way back to the time I use to broadcast on video platforms, before I got my Samson Mixer that I currently own to this day. I do not remember what kind of mixer it was but I think it was a Radio Shack mixer and that company does not have those stores, not up here in Canada at the moment. This mixer did not allow me to connect a condenser Microphone at the time it had a 3/4 inch piece to hook up into it and this mixer had faders, meanwhile this one I got now has the knobs but I honestly prefer faders in my opinion. Trust me my next one is going to have faders as they are sure as heck easier to use. However this mixer was used which meant someone else used it before I got it as a donation to The Video Projects Team. I know that is a long way back now since this happened. I never really talked about it at all but hey it got me more into being more professional with broadcasting and now what you see, the podcasting universe which I am currently to this day. It was always a learning curve at the start, I learned about the color lights on a mixer, orange levels means you are going to distort and I learned that very, very quickly as a broadcaster what the levels mean. Also with the mixer I got two microphones. One wasn't working well but the other worked for a while. I did replace it with a cheap mic but then got the Audio Technica PRO 31 which still is in the studio to this day.

As it went to the end of it's run it started to struggle where the voice wasn't being picked up and mind you it was an old mixer and it was ready to be retired and scrapped in the garbage and that was the fate of it. It was a good mixer at the start, but then it got old and just ready to be thrown away and make way for my second mixer which now is used to this very day and working so great for me now too! It will always be my first mixer and will always remember this as my first ever mixer I ever had. I had to start somewhere and I will always remember my first mixer.
