How Did I Meet Larry and Justin?

I don't think I ever told the story of how I met Larry who is the Senior Producer/Co-Host of Power Rangers Collab and this entire collaboration podcasts craziness. Well Larry and I met in 2010 in college. We hit it off quite quickly in 2011 that is when our friendship started. It took us a few months to get to know each other and we started hanging out front of the program office between. In 2011 we were in the same class together and that is how we actually started this entire friendship. I am sure we did a couple of lunches down at the marketplace where you could He left college, (graduated) in 2011 but we continued to stay in touch through social media and messenger. I believe we even met up between the classes and he would pop up but again this is a long time ago since we first met, going on 12 years with him.

Now after him and Justin left or just as they were graduating from the program, Justin wanted to come on to help out after we get back up and running again.  I said yes to it. I had a new camera man already for 2012 when The Entertainment Man Talk Show returned from it's hiatus. So three of my new staff were from college as they wanted to help. That is how they got involved with The Video Projects Team and also ChrisBOnTheWeb, was by word of mouth at the college when we were still in school doing our studies. Justin joined April 2011 till May 2017 and Larry 2013 - 2016; 2018 - Present. Kind of tells you how long I have been friends with Justin and Larry. I hope you guys enjoyed this blog and I will talk to you all tomorrow.

First Time Having Deep Fried Pickles!

This goes a long way back to the point of me still in College for the 2 years I was in college. This was like between 2010 - 2012. Anyways, there was an event for a freshmen I guess so to speak and it was like a BBQ that we had over at the Campus Pub. Anyways there was a bowl of deep fried pickles and I thought, you know what, I am going to try this and see and I wasn't sure what to really expect and this might of actually been the first time I actually had Pickles all together. Maybe, not 100% sure to be honest. The first time I had it I thought, mmm this is good! I actually really enjoyed it and was different to be honest. It was very, very different and to be honest, I'd have it again in the very near future.

All it really is breading around a pickle and it is deep fried. It's not cold it is a room temperature and I am not afraid to try something new to be honest. I more open now then I was for trying something new which is good. I'm sorry this post isn't very very long, its a very short and sweet post and I wanna keep it short since I am late for the post today. I apologize for the late and the not so excited post today but I wanted to do something. Back to what I was saying, if you haven't tried it, I highly recommend it, especially if you like dill pickles especially it is truly recommended. Anyways that is the post for today and I will see you in the next post next week, Savannah will explain on tomorrow's post.

The Night Siri Wasn't Herself (Throwback Thursday)

For those who don't know, Siri is a Virtual Assistant on your IPhone. She can be quite funny or annoying as I have had my moments getting mad at her yet she's an AI voice technically. Anyways she has a habit of telling me I am next door at either of my neighbors... LOL which I call her out on every time she tells me a lie. Well, I swear she was drunk... She was giving me locations from down the hill to the street behind me to little ways away from here and she just was acting nuts and I dunno what was going on but she was lost and yet I was sitting down in my studio working on editing podcasts for you guys so you would have content for the next few weeks as you know I need to work on Dino Thunder. Anyways, I tried her the next morning and she was giving me either my exact location or next door from me and it was like she was drinking the night behind. However I was literally in tears and almost on the floor laughing so hard I had to share with my mom what she was doing to me....

I know I ask the most ridiculous questions to her at times but she sometimes gives me some interesting answers to my questions. She can definitely keep you entertained and yes you can even look up what you can and cannot say to her as you have to watch what you say cause she accidently cranked called my friend Terry by accident.... Yet I never even said his name whatsoever. She is very sensitive at times but fun to ask questions like even what time it is in certain countries which is cool. So I had to tell you guys this little story and I wish I told you guys this story sooner honestly but it happened just a week ago but least it is fresh and this gives you guys content. Next week I want to tell you guys about the day I renewed an old web series for more episodes for an entire 1st season and where I was at the time of it happening. I will talk to you guys tomorrow.

Elementary School I Drove By Yesterday and Memories.... (Throwback Thursday Story)

Yesterday, I got a chance to go for a small 15 - 30 minute trip down to the lake and I passed by my old elementary school when I was in Grade 7 and I'm talking 21 years ago since I left this school. Unfortunately it has recently closed down which the school board decided to shut it down. I got a close up picture and the windows I captured, I'm sure was my classroom was in there and I can bet you anything on that. I remember once we do a morning group session and yes I was in a special class and for those who didn't know I have autism and was in a special class to help me. Anyways one of the staff ended up in a laughing fit and I was doing the "your crazy thing" going round and round by my ear and she gave me the look like what the heck are you doing. She left the class till she settled down. Last time I ran into her was when Zellers was still a thing here in Ontario which no longer exist anymore.

Also I remember we took walks behind into the bush by the river and another time we took a trip down to the lake which was only a 10 - 15 minute walk down. I remember I actually found  a fossil on a rock and I wish I kept it. I know better to keep the neat looking rocks. I have a lot of memories there and it is unfortunate that it has now closed down. I remember the Principal and Vice Principal's name Mr Barkwill aka Mr Broccoli as one of my classmates nicknamed him and Mrs. Chambers. How the heck do I remember their names is beyond me. I remember I got kicked off the bus for a while for misbehaving and I didn't get along with the driver till I went to the other school 2 towns over the  following year. Once last thing I want to say is one of the drivers whom I think replaced our normal driver. Anyways Debbie who has since passed away was one of my all time favorite bus drivers of all time. So funny, and everytime we got near the train tracks near my end here, everyone would say, train, train, train and Debbie and I use to say no, no, no. Was a moment I will always remember. She was a dispatcher at the school bus company and I heard her voice once when I was in High School and I got a chance to say hi to her through the CB Radio, haha.

First Series We Ever Recorded As The Video Projects Team! (Throwback Thursday Story)

This goes back to 14.5 years ago when I was at the age of 20. This was when I was starting out on the Online Media world soon as I got out of High School, I got right into it all. Anyways the project was about different attractions within our region and was our very first project that we actually did. This all stemmed and started as a class project for my media class in high school. This is how this all began and started in 2005. We filmed the entire episode in a day and I believe I actually got my dad to drive us on the final stretch as we were running out of time and I think Eric was driven back cause of the timing as by the time we finished it was quite late in the day like 4 pm in the afternoon. Now we originally had an original plan for a small Reality TV series but since the teams backed out on us we had to come up with a new plan and a plan fast as I believe we were days away possibly 2 days from shooting the episode for the school project so we had to call Juliana at the Gallery to let her know of the change that was happening. I know we gave her a 2 day or 1 day notice but it was so sudden.

The series completed a 16 episode run as we continued on past the 1 episode on February 13th, 2006 when we decided to continue the series on with different locations out and about and there was no in studio recording. Our Season 1 Finale actually consisted of us doing a clip show outside with a TV in the carport which was little insane but that's OK. The series went on for a 2nd Season but it only lasted 3 episodes before it got cancelled entirely as we had some disagreements or creative differences with one another. However it was only our first series and I wish I kept all the episodes to eventually post up on YouTube as at that time we did not even started till January 31st, 2008. This series actually ended on January 10th, 2008, 21 days before we began our YouTube journey.

Was Involved In A Small Bus Accident This Week (Throwback Thursday)

I know this isn't truly a throwback Thursday Story as it just happened but it is in the past but just happened and I know this makes no sense but I want to talk about this as it was a ridiculous situation. Anyways I did make it public I was in a minor bus accident on my travels in the city while on the bus. Now mind you I am fine, we were all fine from the little accident. It was a minor bump on the backside of the bus. What the kicker to all of this is the driver in the truck ran on the bus driver and left the scene of the accident which honestly is stupid to flee an accident scene. We knew the color of the truck that's all as we did  not get a license plate number nothing so that person got off scott free which is entirely dumb and I am sure the transit service wasn't happy the truck ran. Honestly yes it is a hit and run and they are stupid enough to do such a thing and lucky they aren't gonna get charged with a hit and run as there is no real evidence who the driver is. Anyways we're all fine and I took at the bus and hardly saw the bump but it was a minor bump nothing that the bus cannot finish it's run on the route. The kicker behind all of this it was at a stop by a Tim Horton's which is one of the busiest Timmie's in town honestly...

I think this was the second incident that has happened when I have been on the bus and hope this is the last time. The first time I think we hit a sign on the backside of the bus. However I consider myself and the other passengers are safe and nobody has been hurt in any of the incidents that has happened in the past. Either way it's an experience that I really do not want to have. So that is my sort of more recent Throwback Thursday Story which really happened 2 days ago and I ensure you I am fine and I was a little shooken up for a while but shook it off. Anyways tomorrow's post I have a very special announcement coming out for you guys and I can say it is an announcement that you guys have been waiting for almost 8 months now and I can say while I typing this I got a smile on my face as I have been waiting to make this announcement for a very long time now. Anyways I hope you guys enjoyed this post and I will talk to you guys in the next post tomorrow.

The Day I Shaved A Line In My Head (Throwback Thursday Story)

This is kind of a silly and stupidest thing I really ever have done eve in my life. So what did I do exactly? Well I decided to shave a big line on my head making me look utterly ridiculous.  Why did I do this honestly? I know and realize now it was probably the stupidest thing I could of done to myself.  Anyways I kind of was inpatient with my mom and started to throw threats I was going to shave my head bald, etc etc. I was definitely in one of my moods that day and I wasn't having it that day and I was really not in the greatest mood that day and I do not know why, but maybe I was just stressed out at the time? That could of been the problem but who knows! I think it had to do with the way I wanted my hair done as I like it to be done. Anyways it is what it is and my mom knows this it is my hair and how I want it done. So I plugged in the razor and just took it to the middle of my head so I had a bald line. Yes it was right down to the scalp of my head. I had to wear hat non stop for weeks and I was embarrassed on what I did to myself and nobody knew but once the month was up I did eventually post up a picture but I think since then I have deleted that image as I couldn't find it whatsoever.

To be honest, I love my mom and she's been a big supporter of my endeavors along with my dad, we were just having one of our moments having a disagreement on something which all family does from time to time honestly. My family means the most to me is a big priority. Now would of happened if I did shave everything off go bald? My friends would of definitely be wondering what in the world I would be done to myself honestly. It was definitely stupidity  when I did this and I wish I never did this to myself to be honestly and in the end I regret doing this to myself honestly as it was dumb thing to do honestly and I have a lot of regrets doing that to myself now and it is what it is now and I am going to learn from this and not do something that crazy and dumb. I know we all do something we shouldn't have and regret doing it like I did. I have done stupid things in my life that I totally regret some of it as some of it wasn't fault.... cough cough falling down that hill and breaking my wrist I Elementary School which I have told you guys the story. But other things was cause of my stupidity, falling on the stairs or on the ground or wiping out or punching the beam of the wall breaking my hand, all my entire fault.... LOL. However shaving a line in my head that was entirely my own fault and I should of not done that and not gone to that extreme.

The Year I Was In A Musical (Throwback Thursday Story)

This is way back in the day this is my final years of elementary school I got the honor and privilege to be in a school musical called "The Highlight Zone" which the description of the music is or your consideration, Jess, who is to begin his/her first day at a new school, is especially apprehensive about taking Music Appreciation class. His/her fears about the unknown lead this unsuspecting student into "THE HIGHLIGHT ZONE!" It was a fun play to be on but was very stressful when it came to the rehearsals and staying after school to practice the music an the lyrics to the song and boy our teacher, she was tough on us but that is a good thing especially if we want to have a really good performances that were on May 31st an June 1st of 2001. Yes I remember the performances date to be exact and I remember that Tuesday, I had a school performance before the ones for the families and friends of all the students in the school. I also had to during the school performances for all the classes I had to do one extra line to fill in for someone and boy I was nervous but two of the girls ensured that I would be fine and I was they even said quietly during the performances and I remember them very well too. I remember the dress rehearsal that was a very dramatic and also hectic Saturday as well.

In the end it was a great show both the 2 shows we put on for the classes on that Tuesday and also the two performances we put on for the parents and families. I wasn't the greatest singer back then but you can hardly tell with my very coarse voice but I enjoyed it. I think with me in a musical, it really got me into being an entertainer to this very day so this dates back to 2001, 18 years ago before YouTube was an actual thing, before even live video streaming platforms existed but I am now sure a performer, even to this day I enjoy being an entertainer and it sure fits my personality as I am always cracking up stupid jokes at people or about myself, especially when it comes to my mishap behind the microphone from time to time. I hope you guys enjoyed this little throwback Thursday story as I always enjoy talking about experiences I had in the past, including when it comes to when I was in school, elementary school to be exact. I will see you guys on tomorrow's blog which I will be talking about my vision for the studio's future look when the reno is done.

The Entertainment Man Talk Show: The Beginning (Throwback Thursday Story)

I never really talked about this but in today's Throwback Thursday I want to talk about this. What do I mean? I am talking about Season 1, Episode 1 of The Entertainment Man Talk Show as the title above is titled for today's blog. Now the very first episode took place on May 23rd, 2008 is when the show, the web series you guys all knew and loved for many years that it was on the air which was 11 years ago back in May this year. I knew this was like one of the second series that hit YouTube as you know Durham Entertainment Today also known as DET never made it to YouTube whatsoever even after it was cancelled due to the fact of staff drama going on. Anyways someone and their name will not be mentioned as this is now in the past and him and I are on good terms but they were not involved with the series till the 2nd season into the late 3rd season when he walked out with 3 other staff. So basically I had some help but mostly I was on my own for the most part of the season till the season 1 finale came around. The first episode I was extremely nervous compare to now being in front of a camera now, it is no biggie for me being nervous. However the first real series I had to get the jitters out pretty fast but as the series progressed I was getting really good and comfortable. Mind you the first ever episode that I did was a introduction to the series, who I was, why the series is on the channel now.

Now if you were to ask me, if I was to do the series all over again would I be as nervous as I was before? The answer would be no as I have streamed a ton and now guested on Punk Rock Cheeseburger numerous times I feel very comfortable. However we are talking about The Entertainment Man Talk Show. It took me up to the 7th or 8th episode to warm up to you guys as a host and really get into the role as host. However once the second season rolled in, I was a pro at it already. I think the first episode for anyone whether it is a web series or a podcast which that will be another Throwback Thursday Story for next week for you guys but either way first episode is always nerve wracking for anyone that is in the entertainment industry like I have. However I have been part of this online media world for almost 14 years now and I should be more comfortable on the camera by now as I have been doing this a very long time now. Either way this was the beginning of what became a 7 year journey and I am still to this day forever grateful for the time I spend on that series for the length it ran from 2008 - 2016.

The Day I Broke My Wrist (Throwback Thursday Story)

Yes! Throwback Thursdays are back again. I feel bad that I have not done one in maybe over a month now but I have an interesting Throwback Thursday for you today and this stems all the way back when I was still in elementry school for goodness sake. I think I am talking about when I was around 10 or 11 years of age, could of been 12 but I remember it was in Grade 6 and a school that has since then been torn down and rebuilt and renamed to another name but a new school on the exact same lot. Anyways this was in January and I remember it very vividly it was in the afternoon before going home for the day and we were all outside playing in the snow and I accidentally slipped and fell down the hill breaking my left wrist. At the time it was sore and we iced it when I got home. However it wasn't getting any better so my mom took me to the clinic and we had it x ray done to see if it was indeed broken and it was. So I was put in a cast and I can remember then putting it on me too. I was in a cast for 6 full weeks so the wrist would heal properly. I remember coming back into school and all my friends signed it including my teacher too. It was a freak accident and I didn't break anything else till 2013 or 2014 when I accidentally hit my hand against the beam of the wall fracturing my hand but least it wasn't a full break this time around.

Now do I remember when my original family doctor took off the cast? Yes I do, actually I remember the smell of the plaster and wasn't a pleasant smell to be honestly. Also seeing my hand with it being covered and I am trying to not be gory or gross on this as I am keeping things PG all the time but that is what happens when your hand is covered with a cast for 6 long weeks. Anyways I truly cannot learn from this because honestly this was a freak accident that happened but I wouldn't wanna do that again honestly as I do not want another busted up bone. However I did break my left again it wouldn't be in the same area actually as we all know, you break a bone in one spot then you will not be able to break it again. I still have bad memories of this day and I honestly do not want to remember this as it wasn't the greatest day of my life when I fell down the hill. I do remember having Kool Aid which I still a thing to this day, something called Koolaid Jammers which is totally different from when I had it. However I remember I had a big cup of it while lying on our flowery old coach that we had back then before the couch we had then. Hope you guys enjoyed this throwback Thursday Story and I will talk to you guys on tomorrow's blog post which will be definitely sports related.

The Day Larry Flipped Off The Camera...

I will never forget this day and it is kind of appropriate for a Throwback Thursday Story as Larry and I are under the same roof for the next 24 hours for the Big Brother Canada 6 Finale and this is only fitting to bring Larry into the picture as both him and I have spoken about him flipping off the camera during  a filming of my web series.

So this goes back to The Entertainment Man Talk Show seasons 5 or 6, it is hard to remember, I believe it was the Finale for Season 5 actually as it was the last episode of the 5th season which is now a loss season along with Season 6 as well. I did my final sign off which mind you I plan on going back to my old sign off on my podcasts like the old days as it was a popular sign off for me. Anyways I did my sign off and Larry and he came into the camera with his drink as he decided to flip off the camera. At first I was pissed with him the fact he gave the middle finger so I wasn't one bit happy whatsoever. Now you're going to ask me, Chris why didn't you re shoot the final closing? We did it in one take and I didn't know he flipped off the camera until it was placed up onto YouTube and I replayed it on YouTube myself. I was like oh crap, he really did that didn't he? It was too late as it was already published on YouTube.

Did we get into trouble with YouTube? No, we were lucky to get away with it actually. We got no comments whatsoever mentioning Larry's action on the camera as we tried to keep the episodes clean and appropriate for YouTube. Looking back at this situation and memory of the episode that is now lost forever as I never saved any episodes whatsoever. But I have some regrets not watching back the clips as I edited and I should of always look back at what was filmed before releasing it publicly as I did not want to offend you guys in anyway shape or form so it was a major mistake I made and I think if that was on YouTube now, it would probably be labeled as not family friendly content and would be restricted on the platform. So I now know to edit the content before posting up any podcast/interview or blog contents.

My Experience With 3 Surgeries Within 3 Years

Back 14 years ago, I got really sick and I mean really sick to the point of me of throwing up. Not only I was concerned , my parents and family were worried something was seriously wrong and usually I have been an healthy person over the 17 years as that is how old I was at the time of this illness. My mom and dad returned from their anniversary to find me sick and just not wanting to eat or anything. They took me in not once but twice or might of been 3 times they took me in but I think it was 2 times, the first time they gave me a shot saying it was a viral infection, pfft whatever. But the second time they realized something is truly wrong, I believe they took me in for a test that 2nd night as well to see what was going on and then of course they admitted me into the hospital for more tests. I remember I fell asleep for a while between on going tests before being brought up to pediatrics floor. The next day, I believe I was awake at quarter to  for blood work and this was on a daily basis in the 3 and a half  weeks I was in the hospital which I will get into towards the end of the 3 week stay I had in the hospital. So the very next day I was taken to Bowmanville Hospital via Ambulance to get a CAT Scan done on my stomach. Within a day or so later the surgeon came in and said he needed to operate on my stomach so it begun to a long road to recovering from this ruptured appendix. All went well and the appendix was removed. But 2 days later the surgeon told myself and my parents he has to go back in to remove the poison that was inside my stomach as things were still not as good. I think there was another test between the operations at the time. I was very inpatient with this test as I was in pain but most part I had high pain tolerance just like my mom has. So back into surgery I went and my thought in my head was here we go again. All went well with the second surgery and I was moved to the 7th floor.  As I got better they put me on a liquid diet to getting me to eat again and off the IV bags that gave my stomach nutrition.  Lipids was one of them if I can remember correctly. I also got moving around the floor walking several times a day and I would need a speed bump in the hall... LOL... During my time in the hospital I had a visit from my coach as I was off from baseball after playing half the season and presented me a gold metal as they won the Softball tournament for me and they gave me a metal. On August 27th, 2003 I was discharged after 3 and a half weeks in the hospital.

just little less then 3 years later I once again got sick and I started to feel symptoms with being with Eric which I believe was a production meeting about  one of the projects I was doing and this was Pre-YouTube ERA before I began my time on YouTube. Anyways we were at an arena nearby my house and this was on a Sunday, the 20th of March 2006. So my mom picked us up as I had no strength as I was in too much pain to move to much so she picked us up and when we got back I had to lie down to rest. Obviously it was so bad my mom took me to the clinic and my dad took Eric to the bus early but Eric checked in the evening how I was feeling as he was deeply concerned about what was going on with me at the time. It got bad by the late evening so my mom took my back to the ER to get it looked at and of course this time around they actually called in a surgeon and he got me to the CT Scan aka CAT Scan to have my stomach scanned as I figured something wasn't right when they put in the IV in my hand. So the surgeon didn't like what he saw obviously and I was heading into emergency surgeon at 130 am that Monday morning. Surgery on my stomach once again for the blockage on my bowel was successful and I was in the hospital for about 4 days before being discharged and sent home. The surgeon said it was because of the previous 2 surgeries I had almost 3 years before that caused scar tissue to form hence the blockage so that is my long but hopefully shorten side of my 3 surgeries within 3 years, I hope you enjoyed it and I will tell another side story about the nurse from hell in another blog on another day!
