Becoming a Coding Master!

What do I mean by that? Well this was a project and a half that I endeavoured with ChrisBOnTheWeb.com in quite sometime now as I haven't revamped a page in a very, very long time and it was long coming I wanted to do something bigger in mind. I had a big vision and I put it into two parts the content and stream schedule at the top and the Events I go to along with news and changes which I changed to just Updates. I made it simpler with it.

With it now complete looks really amazing and you can fine it @ https://www.chrisbontheweb.com/p/schedule.html and it has been live since the day before Easter. I was worried it would be all wonky but adjusts when adding in new content or words to the table and that is how it is built is by a HTML table which I have gotten better and better at over the years. I also use it on the "Staff" Page was well hence that is the way you all see it. I have become a coding master and learned so much thanks to Google and YouTube. Anyways that is the post for today, I will talk to you all tomorrow!

What Is The Plan For The Former Extra's Drop Down Menu?

You probably wondering what the plan for the "Former Extra's Drop Down Menu?" Well the plan is we will be using it and Savannah and I already have changed over the name to Events and the Tab is currently disabled and it is not dropping down at this current time. This will be like this for a while now, I'm like talking about all summer, that tab will be disabled. Work will be done on the website throughout the entire summer on that new feature and it will take her and I sometime to actually build up the pages and the events that will be shown when things get back to normal and the events in more a temporarily hiatus for the time being. These are the events I plan on going to and the events after this pandemic and finally events on temporary hiatus status:

Going To Post Pandemic:                       On Hiatus:                         Questionable:

Maple Festival May                      Polish/Ukrainian Festival                            Food Truck                                                                The Royal Winter Fair in Toronto                 Rib Fest            Apple Festival                              Toronto Christmas Market

Tyrone Parade of Lights

As you can see there are at least 7 - 8 events I go to on a yearly basis is quite a good amount, not as much as I had Oshawa Santa Claus Parade and Oshawa Tree Lighting but nowhere near pleased with the two events as it's changed so much over the years. Also I also use to do the Autism Celebration as well and since it's not on my list anymore I have removed 3 events on top of the 7. Originally I had 10 - 11 events a year. So the events I am going to post pandemic, is only 3 to start with, however Food Truck is questionable as not sure if it will be in the plans for Bowmanville events but will have to wait and see when events start back up more then likely in 2022, maybe 2023 for me, let's see how I feel by then. Rib Fest is a bit bigger of an event down at the lake and I probably won't have that comfortable level. So The Questionable one will be under the archived events on the archive page for pictures. The one on Hiatus will be under Hiatus on that page as well. The events that will be active events under the archives and will be activated once events start back up. The only item that will be activated under events on the website's main page or anywhere on the website will be Archives that will be accessible on the website and yes you can view the pictures by clicking on the Icons that her and I are adding to the website. This will be all completely hopefully this year as I cannot promise an ETA on this but it has started to be worked on. I will talk to you all tomorrow.

I Originally Helped Build The Original ChrisBOnTheWeb.com

This is going way back to the early days of us having a .com website or Chris so to speak like 2015 when he got the original ChrisBOnTheWeb.com which didn't have as many views as it does today to a couple of hundred of views a day which I will get into on another post another day this week as I have several ideas for the week. Anyways I want to go back 5 years ago when we just started out with a .com website, when this all became a reality. Yes we were a year and a half before ending YouTube as a whole but I helped Chris build the website from the ground up, pages added to the website the entire build of what was our very first menu bar which Chris hasn't really spoken about and I think he rather squash the fact he was with that provider as he's had his share of problems where they banned the website for no apparent reason not once but twice in the time which honestly was ridiculous. I'm sure it was being falsely reported but the point is we are with blogger now fully and love the way we have built up this website.

So I had a big hand in the build of the ORIGINAL website and have experience with the way ChrisBOnTheWeb.com runs so maybe that is why he has chosen me to help with the day to day operations while he's away. Now not only that I helped him build this website's pages and menu bar. Wasn't just Mark and I, it was a 3 man operation and there was a ton of work and it took us a long time. Chris mainly tested it and reported back to us as we did majority of the work switching on a regular basis. Either that doesn't matter who work on the website but I have learned a lot about building Menu Bars, CSS Code, IFrame and even building social media buttons within the website. This is how I am familiar with the build of our website. I hope you all enjoyed this story of how I was involved the website before we moved to blogger or blogspot on more permanent basis and I will talk to you guys tomorrow.

Schedule Page Has Been Re-Coded!

Yesterday afternoon, I took down the "Schedule" for some major maintenance as I was not happy with what I was using which their service has gone down this morning for some odd reason and you know what service I am referring to. However I am grateful for having that calendar embedded on my website for the last several years and it was time for change. So obviously I took the entire page down and at first when you clicked it it said page cannot be found but yet the menu bar was up... Well I forgot to take down the tab off the menu bar code so I did that and re-added it when it was complete which only took me an hour to code together but their is probably tweaks I can make to it still as I am not 100% confident the page is done and there is tweaking to do with it still. However the new page is now up and I am happy with it for right now, even tho I am very picky with it but in time I will get it perfect but for right now its pretty much in beta testing as it was entirely done by code for tables. I not afraid to say it I am pretty much coding everything myself now these days and I am not going to rely on third party sites now moving forward for features within this website.

So if you see something out of place on this please report it via the contact page or my Facebook Fan Page, Twitter or Instagram. I am sure there is something that is out of place that I missed as I was extremely tired at 3 in the afternoon as I was in bed at 6 and up around 4 ish this morning. So it was a long hour yesterday trying to figure out how to do the scheduling so it took me some time to figure it out. However in the end I am happy with the end product but the issue I have is how I will add in events but I think it is possible and I probably will put it in for the month as I have things written down or in the actual calendar here on my PC so I know what is what with events especially which I know for right now is 2 more events are on the list for 2019 before we end events for the year. So what I think I will plan I can list them for just the month this way you guys aren't confused at all what is going on and what not.

Menu Bar Update.....

It is time for an update and honestly I have hit a snag in the road. Now I got the drop down to work, however, only Everything About Reality TV show and the collab tab is not showing.  It has been an uphill battle and I think it definitely has to do with the CSS code as it is not in the code itself that is build into the bar itself. I kind of put that to the side and why you currently see the old menu bar which stretches out to the right side right now but I am planning to get working on the menu but it will take me some time but it will be up and down until I figure the issue. I have an idea what is the issue but I will need to pinpoint the issue but hopefully it's an easy fix to the issue. I have already asked around and Quora might be a good place as the blogger forums wasn't much help so I am going to ask around. You have to realize this is the first time with CSS code and building something from scratch such as the menu. This is pretty intense coding I have to do but I am actually learning a lot about it too. I am a pretty fast learner too and have figured out how the heck to do things. However this is the first time, I have hit a snag in the road. I will figure it out eventually. I attached a screen shot of the issue I am having with it. Any website pros out there know why its doing this please shoot me an email via contact.

Also the Podcasts page will be disabled as I will be using the Everything About Reality TV page which is already designed and ready to go. Also the current "Collab" page will be still active just moved under the Podcasts tab which will drop down.  Once it is completely functional then I will announce it on Twitter and Instagram when it is officially functional and ready to go I will let you guys know it is up and running. Any bugs can be reported to me via the contact page which you guys can send me an email through the contact page on this website. I honestly cannot wait to release it and it will open up the website and I want it to be more easier to navigate but I have the podcasts under one tab like I did on the original ChrisBOnTheWeb.com as I had it originally.  So I am trying to get back to the original roots of the website which I wanted to do but I didn't know how to do it but good old Chris (me) has done some research and have gotten places with it but that one issue so that bug has to be worked out before I release the menu. However that is where I am at with things, just hopefully it will be done by summer and the website will be complete.
